Hott Twice

Hott Twice, consigned by Wes Ashlock, as agent for Cooper Smith, brought a record $1,500,000 bid from Terry Green at the NCHA Futurity Sales on December 6.

On Tuesday, December 6, Session II set a new standard for 2-Year-Old Sales with a record average of $93,744. In addition, 21 horses commanded bids of $100,000 or more, with eight that sold for $200,000 or more, including the sorrel stallion Hott Twice, in training with Wes Ashlock, who topped all charts at $1,500,000.

Bred by Waco Bend Ranch and consigned by Wes Ashlock, as agent for Cooper Smith, Hott Twice brought the record $1,500,000 bid from Terry Green, Jackpot Ranch, Sugarland, Tex. The Hottish-sired sorrel stallion is out of Dual Pep daughter Tapt Twice (LTE $285,226), a Top 10 All-Time Leading Dam of 29 earners of $1.7million, including 2011 NCHA Open Horse of the Year Dont Look Twice (LTE $843,096).

Reyzin Rowdy Cash, consigned by Todd Nelson and in training with Richard Jordan, commanded Tuesday’s second highest price – $600,000 – from Rocking P Ranch, Fort Worth, Tex. Bred by Cliff Mills, the sorrel daughter of Reyzin The Cash is out of One Time Pepto daughter and NRCHA producer One Rowdy Kitty (LTE $77,393).

On Thursday, December 8, at 9:00 am, the Annual Rocking P Ranch Production Sale, featuring the offspring of Rocking P’s foundation sire Metallic Cat, the Leading Sire of 2021 and 2022 cutting horse earners, will precede the NCHA Futurity Preferred Breeders Sale Session I.

Vu Ja Roy, a bay stallion by 2019 NCHA Open Horse of the Year and first crop sire Rollz Royce, sold to Nate Ahlin, Payson, Utah, for $500,000. Bred by Beau Galyean, who campaigned NCHA Open Hall of Fame winner Rollz Royce to earn $354,032. Vu Ja Roy, consigned by Ty Smith, in training with Travis Stewart, is the first foal out of Vu Ja Rey, by Metallic Cat. Vu Ja Roy ‘s second dam, Dual Rey daughter Rey Ja Vu (LTE $102,613), is the producer of five NCHA money earners of $93,719.

Nate Ahlin was also the winning bidder with $400,000 for A Lil Plaything, consigned by Todd Nelson, in training with Richard Jordan. Sired by 2022 NCHA Open World Champion and first year sire Metallics MVP, A Lil Plaything is out of Dual Rey daughter A Little Reylena (LTE $126,058), dam of 12 NCHA money earners of over $1,000,000, including Dual Reyish (LTE $452,687), 2017 NCHA Futurity Open Champion and 2020 NCHA Open Horse of the Year.

Freyt Treyn, a Stevie Rey Von-sired red roan stallion consigned by Hayden Upton for Buck Creek Ranch, sold for $315,000 to Roger and Stephanie Clark, Fountain Inn, SC. Bred by Fults Ranch, home of 2015 NCHA Futurity Open Champion Stevie Rey Von, Freyt Treyn is out of My Little Abra (LTE $64,220), by Abrakadabracre, dam of 9 NCHA money earners, including 2016 NCHA Open Horse of the Year Ichis My Choice (LTE $425,517) and 2017 NCHA Open Futurity Reserve Champion The Animal (LTE $260,124).

Michael Johnson, Huntsville, Tex., was the winning bidder at $300,000 for Gettn Wicked With It, by Stevie Rey Von. Consigned by Hayden Upton, agent for Rose Valley Ranch, Gettn Wicked With It is out of Dual Rey daughter Wicked Wanda Rey (LTE $30,855) dam of five money earners of $208,157.
