Cuteish Desire, a Dual Reyish x Desires Kitty Cat mare sold by Alan Chappell, brought a record price of $1,150,000 from Billy Wolf.

Bidding was spirited on Monday, December 5 in Fort Worth, Texas. It was the first day of the 2022 NCHA Futurity Sales and midway through Session I of the 2-Year-Old Sales, Cuteish Desire, a Dual Reyish daughter bred by Rockin 5 Ranch, commanded the all-time record price of $1,150,000 for a 2-year-old cutting horse at public auction.

In addition, Session I’s average of $79,191 exceeded that of 2021, and included 17 horses that sold for $100,000 or more.

Consigned by Alan Chappell, Cuteish Desire was purchased by Billy Wolf, Whitesboro, Tex., who paid the previous 2-year-old record of $1,050,000 for Wood She B Magic in 2020. Wood She B Magic would go on on to place third in the 2021 NCHA Open Futurity, claim the 2022 NCHA Open Derby reserve championship, and win two more major 4-year-old Open championships for Wolf under Austin Shepard.

Bred by Rockin 5 Ranch and in training with T.J. Good, Cuteish Desire is out of the High Brow Cat daughter Desires Kitty Cat (LTE $118,149), a maternal sister, out of Desire Some Freckles, by Freckles Playboy, to 32 earners of over $1.6 million with an average of $52,498.

Jackson Gotcha, from the first crop of NCHA 2019 Open World Champion CR Gotcha Covered (LTE $302,756), brought $400,000, Monday’s second highest price. The sorrel filly sold to Mary Lattimore, Fort Worth, Tex., in training with Wes Ashlock.

Bred by Dawn Chapman, Jackson Gotcha is out of Little Jackson Cat (LTE $318,012), winner of the 2020 NCHA Open World Finals and producer of 6-year-old NCHA money earner Mrs Jackson (LTE $22,957), by Woody Be Tuff.

Stevie Magic, consigned by Hayden Upton – Cory Deel, Agent, brought $300,000 from Kathleen Moore, Madill, Okla. The Stevie Rey Von daughter, in training with Cory Deel, is out of Reeds Instant Magic LTE $80,958, by Abrakadabracre, dam of 4 money earners, including current 4-year-old NCHA earner Wizard Of Oz.

Rebels Little Toy, bred by Beechfork Ranch and consigned by Tate and Laura Bennett, sold for $265,000 to Madison Smith, Weatherford, Tex. The Metallic Rebel daughter, in training with Tate Bennett, is out of Smartlittlelenastoy, the dam of 13 NCHA money earners of $663,156, including Lean On Rey (LTE $153,634).

Strawberry Swisher, bred by Barney Mac Smith and consigned by S Diamond Ranch Ltd., sold for $250,000 to Norman Coleman, Milledgeville, Ga. In training with Gregg Garvie, the red roan filly is out of the Once In A Blu Boon daughter Hellava Boon (LTE $12,304).

Rebeljusforkix, bred and consigned by Wes and Lindy Ashlock and in-training with Wes Ashlock, sold for $225,000 to Armando Costa Neto, Weatherford, Tex. The red roan stallion, sired by Metallic Rebel, is out of the Hottish daughter Reyzmehot (LTE $57,762), and is from the family of Little Jackson Cat (LTE $318,012) winner of the 2020 NCHA Open World Finals.
