On Tuesday, December 3, Session I of Western Bloodstock’s 2025 NCHA Futurity Preferred Breeders Sale surpassed last year’s record with an average of $39,023 and 85% completed sales, including seven horses selling for $100,000 or more.
High seller of the day, at $205,000, was Catnaps LTE $79,920, consigned by Double Dove Ranch. The 2009 High Brow Cat daughter, purchased by agent Ty Smith, Gainesville, TX, sold with an embryo by Badboonarising.
A limited age event Open Champion in 2012 and 2013, Catnaps is the dam of 8 NCHA, NRCHA and NRHA earners of more than $680,000, including NCHA Open Derby Champion Gingersnaps LTE $219,416, by Smooth Talkin Style, and Snapdragons LTE $245,658, by Gunnatrashya, Reserve Open Champion of the 2020 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity.
Catnaps is also a full-sister out of Starlights Liz LTE $31,369, by Grays Starlight, to Kittens LTE $286,515, dam of Reysin Kittens LTE $542,423, the 2017 Pacific Coast Derby Open Champion, among other Open and Non-Pro major events.
Moves Like Tagger, consigned by Jim Haworth and purchased for $165,000 by Theorem Ranch LLC, Houston, TX, was the day’s high selling yearling and also the second highest priced lot. Sired by Metallic Cat, the red roan filly is out of Dual Rey daughter Dual Rey Tag LTE $56,706, a leading dam of earners of over $1.4 million, including Hashtags LTE $485,293, the 2018 NCHA Open World Champion and sire of earners of over $5.1 million.
Two horses brought $150,000, Wednesday’s third-highest winning bid – The Cat Doctress, a 2015 mare, and Little Bit O Denver, who also claimed the second-highest yearling price.
Sired by High Brow Cat, The Cat Doctress LTE $109,537, an NCHA Super Stakes and Derby Open finalist consigned by Plantation Farms, sold bred to Badboonarising for a 2026 foal and was purchased by Ty Smith, agent, Gainesville, TX.
Metallic Cat daughter Little Bit O Denver, consigned by Rocking P Ranch and purchased by Kimberly Syra, Veguita, NM, is out of TF Smartlittle Linda LTE $139,036, and half-sister to Rockin KW LTE $216,686, by Rockin W, among 11 money earners of $393,155.
