CR Catty Reys, by Dual Reyish, consigned by Billy Wolf, brought The Evening Session’s highest-winning bid of $985,000 from Rocking P Ranch, Fort Worth, Texas.

On Wednesday, December 7, the 2022 NCHA Futurity Sales’ chart-topping trend continued with The Evening Session. Featuring a select group of cutting-bred mares and yearlings, the Session’s average of $101,938 topped 2021’s record by more than $10,000 a head, and established an all-time record for yearlings at public auction.

CR Catty Reys, a yearling Dual Reyish son consigned by Billy Wolf, brought The Evening Session’s highest-winning bid – $985,000 – from Rocking P Ranch, Fort Worth, Texas. Bred by Center Ranch out of Dual Rey daughter ARC Catty Dual LTE $168,762, CR Catty Reys is the maternal sibling of 21 money earners of $880,791, including One Catty Cupid $192,757.

Rocking P Ranch, whose annual Production Sale will be held on Thursday morning, preceding the Preferred Breeders Sale Session I, also was the winning bidder, at $600,000 on Tuesday, for Reyzin The Cash daughter Reyzin Rowdy Cash, in Session II of the NCHA Futurity 2-Year-Old Sale.

Candi Cat LTE $227,265, a 2014 High Brow Cat daughter bred by Wendel and Eakin and consigned by Brumbaugh Ranches, sold for $525,000, the Evening Session’s second highest price, to Dottie and Bobby Hill, Glen Rose, Tex. Out of Sweet Little CD LTE $106,085, Candi Cat, who sold with an embryo by Badboonarising, is the maternal sibling to 22 money earners of $1,471,545, including her full brother High Brow CD LTE $542,101, an NCHA Open Horse of the Year and Open NCHA Futurity Champion, as well as a Top 25 sire of cutting earners.

Sweettish, a Dual Reyish daughter consigned by Ten/27 Ranch and out of high-selling mare Candi Cat, brought $260,000 from Kevin Knight, Weatherford, Tex.

The top two high sellers during Wednesday morning’s NCHA Futurity Cutting Horse Sale were both consigned by Phil and Mary Ann Rapp and purchased by Bobby Gale, Conway, SC. Both were sired by Dont Stopp Believin LTE $463,962, a 2022 Top 12 Sire of cutting horse earners.

Dont Stopp Twice LTE $99,722, a 2018 sorrel gelding out of Woody Be Tuff daughter Dontt Happen Twice LTE $91,055, sold for $100,000. Believe In It LTE $29,616, a 2017 sorrel mare out of Autumn Acre daughter Autumn Starlena, sold for $90,000. Both horses are in training with Phil Rapp.
