Stolis Winner became American Quarter Horse racing’s all-time leading money earner on Friday, November 19 at Fair Grounds in New Orleans. His third-place finish, worth $35,000, in the Bank of America Challenge Championship, increased his career total to $2,153,981 and pushed him past Refrigerator’s 15-year record of $2,126,309.

Owned by breeder Jerry Windham, 4-year-old Stolis Winner is a gelded son of Stoli, trained by Heath Taylor and ridden in the Challenge Championship by Jarrod Deschamp.

“We’ve been wanting to get it done all year, but it’s been a tough go,” said Windham of Stolis Winner’s quest for the record.

“He’s just one in a million,” said Windham of the 2008 World Champion, Champion 2-year-old and Champion 2-year-old gelding.

“You hate that you end up breaking a record like (Refrigerator’s), in one respect. We knew (Refrigerator) well and he was a great, great horse, and it’s an honor to have the record.”
