Snowy Rey Von (top) and Perry Rey Von (above), consigned by Flag Ranch LLC and purchased by Robert Mobley and Lainee Shearer, respectively, topped the Triangle Winter Sale at $72,000 each.

Triangle Sales, the leader among all-around Western Performance Horse sales, launched 2024 with stellar results at its 41st Winter Sale, held January 25, 26 and 27, at Oklahoma State Fair Park in Oklahoma City.

The high volume of 86% on 479 horses sold included an average of $50,000 for the Top 10 high-sellers, and $42,325 for the Top 20, with an over-all average of $14,468 for all 411 sold.

Snowy Rey Von and Perry Rey Von, two-year-old bay roan colts sired by Stevie Rey Von, included in Flag Ranch LLC’s 2024 Production consignment, each brought $72,000 to top the sale. Perry Rey Von, out of stakes-placed race winner Miss Perrys Tres, by Tres Seis, was purchased by Lainee Shearer, Wall, SD, while Snowy Rey Von, out of multiple  Grade 1 stakes winner A Snowy Cartel (LTE $316,925), by Corona Cartel, was purchased by Robert Mobley.

Three-year-old gray colt Apple Bottum Jeans, consigned by Mary Scott Brown, brought $60,000, the sale’s second highest price, from Kenneth Eury, Bay City, Tex. By Epic Leader, sire of barrel racing earners of $3.5 million, Apple Bottum Jeans is out of Cash N My Britches, by Paddys Irish Whisky, and sold in training with Wes Janzen and Max Fontana.

Two 4-year-old geldings consigned by 2Star Investments LLC, each sold for $45,000. A Sparkling Boom, by A Sparkling Vintage, in training for over two years with Vanlandingham Reining Horses, qualified for the 2023 NRHA Open Futurity Semi-Finals L2 and was purchased by Michelle Shaffer, Temecula, Calif.

Spooks Smoking Whiz, a palomino gelding purchased for $45,000 by Lisa Penton, Oklahoma City, in training with Jason Vanlandingham, was a NRHA L1 Open Futurity finalis. The Smoking Whiz son is out of performance money and AQHA point earner Spooky To Cashmychex ($47,647).

Three horses each brought $42,000. Telmesomethingood, a 6-yearold red roan stallion by Meteles Cat out of Shorty Lena daughter Shorty Lena Tari, was consigned by Dillon Crumpler and purchased by Lori Roseberry, Perrin, Tex. Hey Lil Sister (LTE $6,278), a 7-year-old bay mare by Metallic Cat out of Sweet Shorty Lena (LTE $114,276), by Shorty Lena, was consigned by Teryn and Holly Muench and purchased by Ty Smith. Silverandsmoke, a 3-year-old bay roan colt by A Vintage Smoke and a half-sibling to Codalicious (LTE $56,166), was consigned by Chris Holmes and purchased by Alan Chappell.

Two horses sold for $40,000, the fifth-highest price of the sale. Lot 81 (name pending), a 3-year-old sorrel colt sired by Kit Kat Sugar, and consigned by Rock Creek Cutting Horses LLC, tied with Octoberfest, a 4-year-old Shining Spark colt consigned by Jim Asmussen, with Lot 81 is out of Augusta Futurity Open champion Pet Squirrel (LTE $389,160), the dam of 8 money earners. Octoberfest is out of Smart Chic Olena daughter Chics Miss Snap (LTE $37,561) the dam of 6 money-earners including NRHA Open World Champion Mare Gunners Snappy Chic (LTE $125,991).
