The American Quarter Horse Association today announced the 2007 AQHA Racing Champions at Heritage Place in Oklahoma City. A group of 25 people comprising racing media, racing officials and AQHA Racing Committee members served on the voting body.

Blues Girl Too, the richest female in Quarter Horse racing history, was named World Champion, Champion 3-Year-Old, and Champion 3-Year-Old Filly. Trained by Joe Bassett for Lucky Seven Ranch, Blues Girl Too became only the second sprinter to go over the $2 million mark in career earnings, after breaking the long standing 440-yard track record set by the legendary Dash For Cash in the $1 million Champion of Champions, at Los Alamitos Race Course in December.

With her $500,000 Champion of Champions win, the daughter of Corona Cartel, out of Run The Dash by Sixarun, moved past 1983 World Champion Dashingly’s record $1,754,323 to become the richest female of all-time and is now $93,981 shy of equaling the all-time earnings record of $2,126,309, held by the two-time World Champion and three-time Champion of Champions winner Refrigerator.

Blues Girl Too was 2006 World Champion 2-year-old and World Champion 2-year-old filly. Her career record stands at eight wins and four seconds from 13 starts.

Heartswideopen, who won the $2 million 440-yard All American Quarter Horse Futurity in a world record for a female at 440-yards, was named 2007 Champion 2-Year-Old and Champion 2-Year-Old Filly. Sired by Mr Jess Perry out of Dashing Phoebe, by Dash For Cash, Heartswideopen is trained by Carl Draper for La Feliz Montana Ranch LLC.

  • Champion Aged Horse and Champion Aged Stallion – Ketel Won (Stoli x Sixy Lady by Streakin Six), trained by Paul Jones for R.D. Hubbard.
  • Champion Aged Mare – Blazin Fire ( This Snow Is Royal x Blazin Sin by Easy Crimson), trained by Paul Jones for Dan and Lisa McMahon.
  • Champion Aged Gelding – Strawkins (Hawkinson x Shirleys Strawfly by Strawfly Special), trained by Paul Jones for Donald and Peggy Boyle.
  • Champion Distance Horse – Snowbound Superstar (Snowbound (TB) x Shania Cash by Oh My Gee Whiz), trained by Paul Jones for Robert F. Pulse.
  • Champion Broodmare – Run The Dash (Sixarun x Dashin Rosie by Dash For Cash), dam of Blues Girl Too, owned by Lucky Seven Ranch .
