Moria Metallica, consigned by Ten / 27 Ranch, brought the top price of $54,000 at Western Bloodstock’s Mid-Year Cutting Horse Sale.
Live streamed on Saturday, July 22, during the NCHA Summer Spectacular, the 2023 Mid-Year Cutting Horse Sale established a digital performance horse sales high bar with an average of $20,591 and a top five average $41,600.
Over 200 buyers registered for the 46 head offering. The pace and momentum was kept strong with phone bidding, online action and in house bidding.
Moria Metallica LTE $55,769, a 12-year-old red roan daughter of Metallic Cat, bred to Badboonarising, topped the sale at $54,000 with a bid from Reid Scivally, Canyon, Texas. Consigned by Ten/27 Ranch, Moria Metallica is the dam of Metallic Action, a 5-year old NRCHA money earner of $55,656, by One Time Royalty.
Super Freakin Bad, a yearling bay colt by Badboonarising, brought the sale’s second highest price of $40,000 from Billy Foster, Millsap, Texas. Consigned by Plantation Farms, LLC, Super Freakin Bad is the first performer out of NCHA Non-Pro Co-World Champion CD Super Freak LTE $92,729, by High Brow CD.
Four-year-old AQHA/APHA sorrel filly Petunia Picklebottom, by Smooth As A Cat, and yearling blue roan colt Cowboi Bill, by Badboonarising, each brought the sale’s third-highest price of $39,000.
Consigned by Teton Ridge Ranch, in training with Todd Bergen, Petunia Picklebottom, a 2022 NCHA Limited Open Futurity finalist, was purchased by Alice Suzanne Nellen, Sheridan, Montana.
Cowboi Bill, consigned by Ten/27 Ranch and purchased by Michelle Cowan Ardmore, Oklahoma, is out of Billies Catty LTE $227,423, by Catty Hawk, and half-brother to four earners of $210,435, including NCHA Amateur Horse of the Year Redneck Hillbillie LTE $96,116.
Badd Freak, by Badboonarising, and Dream You Never Had, also by Badboonarising, were the sale’s highest-selling yearling fillies at $36,000 and $33,000, respectively.
Consigned by Plantation Farms, LLC and purchased by Billy Foster, Millsap, Texas, Badd Freak is a full brother to Super Freakin Bad, the sale’s high-selling yearling colt.
Dream You Never Had, consigned by Barwick/Simpson/Burleson and purchased by Lisa Kruse/Diamond LK Cutting Horses, Dallas, Texas, is a half-sister to NCHA Futurity Open Futurity Champion and Dual Smart Rey daughter Dual Smart Kitty LTE $317,758, among 10 money earners out of Cats Peptolena , by High Brow Cat.
