Shannon Lamb, Boerne, Tex., scored 220.5 points on Rue Du Ichi to win the 2017 Mercuria NCHA Calgary Stampede Non-Pro World Series of Cutting. Kaila Stewart, Crossfield, Alberta, and Amanda Smith, Wembley, Alberta, tied for reserve with 220 points on Clays Little CD and Hoo Doo Hughes, respectively.

This was Shannon Lamb’s first Mercuria World Series Finals. The NCHA lifetime earner of $92,700, Lamb was $35,000 Non-Pro Reserve Champion in the 2016 Mercuria NCHA World Finals in Fort Worth riding Hes A Rubypepto and also placed as a $50,000 Amateur finalist on Torino Ichi.

Eight-year-old gelding Rue Du Ichi, by Cat Ichi, was a Mercuria World Series Open Finalist last year at San Antonio, the AQHA Congress and in Idaho with Gayon Wells. He also placed third in the NCHA Open World Standings and has NCHA lifetime earnings of $167,487.

Amanda Smith, NCHA earner of $94,742, showed Hoo Doo Hughes as reserve champion of last year’s Calgary Stampede Non-Pro Classic. The 6-year-old gelding, by Thomas E Hughes, was a non-pro finalist in the 2014 NCHA Futurity and has career earnings of $90,586.

Kaila Stewart was a 2014 Calgary Mercuria Non-Pro finalist riding Genuine Catch. She was also a Canadian Supreme Non-Pro finalists last year on Clays Little CD. Stewart is the NCHA earner of $46,721 and 11-year-old Clays Little CD, by CD Lights, is the career earner of $33,386.

Stewart and Clays Little CD also tied Doug Wiens on This Cats Max with 220.5 points, which was the high score of the Non-Pro go-round. Eight-year-old This Cats Max, by WR This Cats Smart, won last year’s Calgary Mercuria Open championship with Travis Rempel, who also showed him in Wednesday’s Open Finals.
