QB Cat, shown by Clint Allen for David and Stacie McDavid, Fort Worth, Tex., scored 225 points on Wednesday to win the 2017 Mercuria NCHA Calgary Stampede Open World Series of Cutting. Eazee E earned reserve with 224 points under Tatum Rice and Lil Magic Ike, with Dustin Gonnet, and Master Mate, with Doug Reinhardt, tied for third with 219 points.

Nine-year-old QB Cat, sired by High Brow Cat and out of Quintan Blue LTE $594,000, is currently ranked fifth with Clint Allen in this year’s NCHA World Championship Open standings. Owner Stacie McDavid also showed QB Cat LTE $137,559 in the non-pro finals of eight major limited age events.

Clint Allen, NCHA Hall of Fame rider and earner of $4,437,126, won the 20110 NCHA Mercuria World Series of Cutting Breeders Invitational Open with Faith N My Cat.

Eazee E, with career earnings of $115,509, shown by Tatum Rice for Kevin and Sydney Knight, Weatherford, Tex., was the high-scoring horse with 227 points from all go-rounds in the Calgary Mercuria Cutting. NCHA Hall of Fame Rider Rice and the 7-year-old High Brow Cat daughter, are currently ranked #2 in this year’s NCHA World Championship Open standings.

Tatum Rice, the NCHA earner of $1, 468,838, showed Eazee E, who is a three-quarter sister to Smooth Asa Zee LTE $616,000, in the finals of 10 major limited age events, as well as the 2017 NCHA Mercuria World Series of Cuttings in Houston and at the PCCHA Derby.

Lil Magic Mike, shown by Dustin Gonnet for Pat Rorisin, Dawson, BC, was a finalist in the Calgary Stampede Futurity in 2015 and a Canadian Supreme finalist last year. The 5-year-old gelding, sired by Cat N A Hat, is the career earner of $33,040.

Dustin Gonnet has won 11 Canadian Supreme championships and four Calgary Stampede championships, including last year’s Futurity on RPL Cat N Around. Gonnet was inducted into the NCHA Riders Hall of Fame last month with career earnings of $1,208,961.

Master Mate is owned by Cam Clarke, Airdrie, AB, and was bred by Kevin and Sydney Knight, owners of  Mercuria NCHA Calgary reserve champion Eazee E. Six-year-old Master Mate LTE $97,777, by Cat T Masterson, was an NCHA Futurity Non-Pro finalist, as well as a non-pro finalist in 11 other major limited age events with Kylie Rice, wife of Tatum Rice.

Doug Reinhardt, the NCHA earner of $604,735, finished first and second in last year’s Calgary Stampede Classic riding Metallic Player and Dual Smart Deal.
