Kim Vaughn on Shesa Silver Spoon

Kim Vaughn of Longmont, Colorado, marked 216 on Shesa Silver Spoon to win the Non-Pro finals at the NCHA Western National Championships. The $200,000-added show, presented by 6666 Ranch, concluded its 10-day run in Ogden Utah on Sunday.

Bred by David Wayne Miller, Shesa Silver Spoon is a 7-year-old mare by Hes A Peptospoonful out of Smart Little Janie, who was an Idaho Futurity champion a decade ago. Shesa Silver Spoon also carried Kim Vaughn to the $5,000 Novice Non-Pro finals and Denton Vaughn to the Senior Youth finals at the Western National Championships.

Kim Vaughn tied with Kay Lynn Pugh on Cat With A Hat at 218.5 for the top score in the go-round. She came back as the next to last rider in the first set of the finals for her winning ride.

Other classes decided over the final weekend of the show included the $5,000 Novice Non-Pro where Amber Czisny of Marietta, Oklahoma,  marked 222 on Peppyschino Jerry, by Smart Little Jerry, to win. She came back for the reserve title in the Non-Pro on the same horse.

Cindy Mann of Carey, Idaho, took the $15,000 Novice Non-Pro with a 219.5 on Sweet Lil Sin, by Sweet Lil Pepto.

Scott Wardley of Okotoks, Alberta, marked 218 on Hah Rey, by Dual Rey, to win the $50,000 Amateur. Hah Rey is a 5-year-old out of $100,000 earner Beckys Haida.
