Phil Rapp, the cutting industry’s all-time leading money earner, is well over the half-million dollar mark in 2007 with his $32,599 win in the Pacific Cutting Horse Association Futurity on ARC Catty Dual. Rapp rode the 3-year-old Dual Pep daughter to score 222 points late in the second set.

The mare, out of 1998 NCHA Derby finalist Cat Mist by High Brow Cat, came to California fresh from a reserve championship at the Brazos Bash.

ARC Catty Dual is owned and was bred by Eleuterio Arcese of Verona, Italy, who is a member of the National Reining Horse Hall of Fame. Cats Full Moon, with Tim Smith for Brinkman Ranch placed second with 219 points; Phil Hanson was third with 217.5 on Frank and Bonnie Martin’s Rubys Royal CD.

Rapp also claimed reserve and $24,273 riding his own horse Tootsie Rey in the PCCHA Open Cutting Stakes, where Clint Allen took the win with 225 points on Hydrive Cat, owned by David Plummer. Rapp’s wife, Mary Ann, won the PCCHA Non-Pro Cutting Stakes on Tootsie Rey; Bonnie Martin was reserve on Cee Dee Royal Tee. Martin also placed second to Julie McBurney in the Non-Pro Futurity Finals on Rubys Royal CD. McBurney rode Pimped Out Pepto, her Amateur Futurity championship mount.
