Western Bloodstock’s 2023 NCHA Futurity Cutting Horse Sale, on Wednesday, December 6th, realized a 10% increase in average price over 2022, but more significantly, it saw an increase of 17 percent in percentage of horses who actually sold, out of all the horses that went through the ring.
An average of $50,024 was realized for 42 of the 45 offered, and 93% of the 45 horses offered sold. In addition, two horses brought $200,000 or more, including:
High-seller My Wayward Son, consigned by Crown Ranch, LP, brought $210,000 from Steve Norris, Colorado Springs, Colo. The 6-year-old sorrel gelding, by Kit Kat Sugar, with his last check stamped in September 2023, is the earner of $149,533. Out of Peptotoodie LTE $170,232, the dam of earners of $486,434, My Wayward Son is a full brother to Sculpted LTE $100,909 and half-brother to Sonic Size LTE $89,442, by Metallic Cat.
Six-year-old Luminnous LTE $168,364, along with an embryo by Dual Reyish, sold to Kim Robertson, Snyder, Tex. for $200,000. Consigned by Crockett Sand & Gravel, Inc., the red roan Metallic Cat daughter is out of 2010 NCHA Futurity Reserve Champion Some Like It Hott LTE $183,383, the dam of six money earners, including Luminnous’ full sister, Some Likeit Metallic LTE $114,498.
A Shuga Rush LTE $15,949, consigned by Rocking P Ranch, LLC, in training with Jesse Lennox, sold for $100,000 to Alvin Fults, Amarillo, Tex. The red roan Stevie Rey Von daughter is out of One Catty Cupid LTE $192,757, by One Time Pepto, and half-sister to Cupids Midnite Train LTE $82,763, by Dont Stopp Believin, and Haywire Rebel LTE $82,535, by Metallic Rebel. A Shuga Rush’s second dam, ARC Catty Dual LTE $168,762, is a leading dam of earners of $940,992.
Andrew Sligh, Altoona, Ala., paid $90,000 for Metallic Cincin, consigned by Teton Ridge. In training with Adan Banuelos, the 3-year-old Metallic Cat son is out of the Dual Rey daughter Cinca De Maya LTE $107,750, dam of 12 money earners of $1,003,402, including Metallic Curveball LTE $246,855, a full brother to Metallic Cincin.
