Don Neuenschwander, 85, who was inducted into the NCHA Members Hall of Fame in 2010 for his contributions to the association and the sport of cutting, passed away on July 8, 2020.

A successful Houston banker and lifetime VP of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, Neuenschwander purchased his first cutting horse on a whim, when he attended a Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo horse sale with friends in the late 1970s. From that time, until he retired from competition in 2010, with nearly $100,000 in earnings, Don and his wife, Kathy, enjoyed the camaraderie of cutters from across the country.

In addition to the invaluable assistance he freely offered NCHA in establishing a well-grounded accounting system, Neuenschwander was also instrumental in bringing the NCHA World Finals to Houston, as a part of the Livestock Show and Rodeo. It was an arrangement that lasted for more than a decade, and introduced people from around the world to the sport, many of whom would become NCHA members and sponsors.
