Reysin Kittens and Metallic Mania, shown by Grant Setnicka and Adan Banuelos, respectively, tied with 222.5 points to become co-champions of the 2019 PCCHA Futurity Open Classic-Challenge on Sunday, October 6, at South Point Arena and Equestrian Center in Las Vegas. Somethingtobelievein scored 221 points to place third under Brett McGlothlin.

Reysin Kittens, sired by Dual Rey and owned by Bitterroot Ranch, Las Vegas, and Metallic Mania, sired by Metallic Cat and owned by SMF Cutting Horses LLC, Aspen, Colo., each earned $11,000, while Somethingtobelievein, sired by Hydrive Cat and owned by Brett and Jody McGlothlin, collected $8,750.

Six-year-old Reysin Kittens’ share of the purse pushed the gelding’s NCHA lifetime earnings to $298,201, while 5-year-old gelding Metallic Mania, who came into the PCCHA Classic Challenge with $3,777, none of which was earned in limited age event competition, increased his career total to $14,777.

Bred by Frank and Bonnie Martin, Las Vegas, Nev., out of Kittens, by High Brow Cat, Reysin Kittens has earned 78 checks in limited age events during his career, under Grant Setnicka and Jaime Snider in Open and Bonnie Martin in Non-Pro competition. Kittens, LTE $270,700, won the 2006 South Coast Futurity 4-Year-Old Non-Pro and the PCCHA 4-Year-Old Amateur Cutting Stakes, among other events, with Bonnie Martin.

Six-year-old Somethingtobelievein LTE $279,912, by Hydrive Cat, was bred by Shane Plummer and has been shown exclusively by Brett and Jody McGlothlin. Jody’s wins on the talented mare include the 2016 NCHA Futurity Non-Pro Limited, as well as the Non-Pro Limited championship of the 2019 NCHA Classic Challenge. Brett’s wins aboard Somethingtobelievein include the 2018 Cotton Stakes 5/6 Classic and the 2018 Augusta 5/6 Classic.
