Ashley Flynn, Weatherford, Tex., scored 221 points on Monday atop Smooth Lines LTE $55,249, by Smooth As A Cat, to top the first day of the NCHA/Metallic Cat Derby Non-Pro go-round competition. Bridey Greeson, Victoria, Tex., claimed second place with 219 points riding CR Smart Boots $185,370, by Boon Too Suen, and Megan Miller, Poolville, Tex., was third with 218.5 points aboard Spur That Spot LTE $15,405, by Spots Hot.

Ashley Flynn showed Smooth Lines as a finalist (18th) in the NCHA Futurity Non-Pro, as well as the 2018 NCHA Super Stakes Non-Pro (12th), and claimed the reserve championship of the Breeders Invitational Non-Pro riding the gelding.

Flynn, the NCHA earner of $611,862, was reserve champion of the 2015 NCHA Futurity with LHR Smooth James Rey LTE $168,999, who also carried her to place third in the 2016 NCHA Super Stakes Non-Pro. In 2014, Flynn placed fourth in the NCHA Derby Non-Pro aboard Cow Scents LTE $65,993, who she had shown to win the Abilene Spectacular Non-Pro.

Bridey Greeson, the NCHA earner of $207,482, won this year’s 2018 Abilene Spectacular Amateur Unlimited 5/6 Classic with TC Heiress LTE $52,565, and placed (14th aboard CR Smart Boots in the NCHA Super Stakes Non-Pro Limited.

Greeson earned her first major check as a finalist in Fort Worth with a sixth-place finish in the 1987 NCHA Super Stakes Non-Pro riding Florida Freckles $29,868. In 2012, she won the NCHA World Finals $50,000 Amateur with A Copper Spoonful $103,317, as well as the $50,000 Amateur World championship.

CR Smart Boots, third-placed in the 2018 Breeders Invitational Open with Boyd Rice, won the NCHA Derby Open second go-round under Rice yesterday to qualify for the NCHA Derby Semi-Finals on Saturday.

Megan Miller, the NCHA Hall of Fame earner of $1,126,905, won the 2018 NCHA Super Stakes Non-Pro championship with Carolena Reyn LTE $145,790, by Dual Smart Rey, and also claimed the reserve championship of the PCCHA Derby Non-Pro with Spur That Spot.

Bridey Greeson and CR Smart Boots also topped Tuesday’s Non-Pro Limited competition, where Traci Shehady and You Cant Buy Love LTE $26,914, by Cats Gotta Diamond, earned the division’s second-highest score of 217.5 points.
