Gaylon Wells and Jay Moss Cougar marked 223 for a four-point win in the Mercuria NCHA World Series of Cutting at the Augusta Futurity January 21.

Curry Diehl and Cats Lena scored a 219 for second place.

Jay Moss Cougar earned $9,104 for the win, owned by Shannon Lamb of Boerne, Texas. The 9-year-old gelding, bred by Bill and Catherine Lacy, is by High Brow Cougar out of Ariel Rey. The earner of $130,000 previously won a Mercuria finals at El Rancho Futurity, with Bill Lacy in the Non-Pro division in 2014.

Wells, a Zane Schulte Memorial Award recipient, finished third in the 2016 NCHA World Standings riding Rue Du Ichi.
