Fourteen-year-old Cade Shepard, who will be the youngest person ever inducted into the NCHA Non-Pro Hall of Fame this summer, achieved another milestone by winning the Non-Pro finals at the Lucas Oil NCHA Super Stakes Classic on April 6.

Shepard is the youngest rider ever to win three NCHA Non-Pro Triple Crown events, eclipsing Wes Shahan and Phil Rapp, who were both 24 years old when they reached that milestone.

Shepard marked 222 on Some Kinda Highbrow in the 2016 Super Stakes Classic, then came back later in the competition to share the reserve title with a 220 on Twistful Thinking. Alannah Chalmers also marked a 220 on Smooth Very Smooth.

Some Kinda Highbrow is a 6-year-old gelding bred by the Shrontz Family Partnership by High Brow CD out of 1997 NCHA Futurity Open champion Some Kinda Memories. Some Kinda Memories has produced earners of more than $700,000.

Some Kinda Highbrow, who will go over a quarter-million in career earnings with this win, was reserve champion of the 2015 Non-Pro NCHA Classic Challenge with Cade, and of the 2014 Super Stakes with his dad, Austin Shepard.

Cade also won the 2015 NCHA Non-Pro Derby with Twistful Thinking.
