Amandas CD, shown by Matt Miller for Chris and Tracy Brengard, Paragould, Ark., scored 220 points on Saturday to command the lead following the first three of six days of NCHA Futurity Open go-round competition. Peptos Scootin Man, with Roy Carter for RPX Enterprises, Medicine Lodge, Kan., ranks second with 219 points. A Smooth Satin Doll, under Phil Hanson, and Metallic Mistress, with Grant Setnicka, are tied for third with 218.5 points.

Sired by High Brow CD, Amandas CD is a full sister to Sweet Lil Amanda LTE $130,979, shown by Matt Miller to win four open limited age events and place eighth in the 2015 NCHA Super Stakes Open. Their dam, Amandas Stargun LTE $91,468, was shown successfully in open and non-pro limited age competition by both Phil and Mary Ann Rapp, and has produced earners of more than $500,000.

A Smooth Satin Doll, sired by Smooth As A Cat and owned by Lynn Leedy, Aubrey, Tex., claimed the second highest score on Saturday with Phil Hanson, winner of last year’s NCHA Futurity with Classy CD Cat, owned by Dottie St. Clair Hill, Granbury, Tex.

A Smooth Satin Doll is a half-sister to Smoothee LTE $60,657 and out of Autumn Boon, producer of the earners of $1.6 million, including the stallions Im Countin Checks LTE $509,642; Once In A Blu Boon LTE $318,012; and Boon A Little LTE $118,405. Autumn Boon’s dam is Royal Blue Boon, all-time leading producer of the earners of $2.5 million.

Bet Shes Smooth, bred and owned by Oxbow Ranch, Weatherford, Tex., and ridden by Lindy Burch, ranked as Saturday’s third-highest scoring horse with 218 points. The Smooth As A Cat daughter is out of NCHA Open World Champion Bet Yer Blue Boons LTE $332,960, and half-sister to earners of $863,100, including the sires Bet Hesa Cat $267,465; Bets CD $117,429; and Bet On Me 498 $101,832.

Bet Shes Smooth is also half-sister to Stylish Bet $LTE $109,157, who Burch showed last week for Oxbow Ranch to qualify for the Winter Showdown in Cowtown Finals on December 4, in Will Rogers Coliseum. Stylish Bet is also the dam of Salsa Style, by Smooth As A Cat, who Burch rode to scored 217 points last Thursday and qualify for the second go-round of the NCHA Open Futurity, which begins on Wednesday, November 25.

Lindy Burch, Grant Setnicka, and Geoffrey Sheehan are the only riders from the first three days of Open first-go-round competition to have each qualified two horses for the second go-round with 217 points or more. Setnicka scored 218.5 points on Metallic Mistress and 217.5 with Ichis My Choice; Sheehan marked 217.5 on Hellcatt and 217 riding Cromed out Cat.
