Metallic Mistress, with Grant Setnicka for Texas Holy Cow Performance Horses, Snata Ynez, Calif., deep in the fifth of seven sets, was Peptos Scootin Man’s closest challenger with 218.5 points, while Catareycious and Ryan Moore, for Larry and Carol Grimes, Thayer, Mo., scored 218 points midway through the fifth set.

Scores of 216.5 points and above rounded out the top 10 from Day One and also included Ricci Ricardo with Ronnie Rice; Cromed Out Cat with Geoffrey Sheehan; Salsa Style with Lindy Burch; Adelita with Chad Bushaw; Lookin Likya Like with Tatum Rice; Magnetik with Sean Flynn; and Metallic Mike with Gary Bellenfant.

Four of the day’s top 10 scores came from Metallic Cat offspring.

Peptos Scootin Man, bred by H.E. Sutton, is by Smart Lil Scoot LTE $266,125, fifth-placed finalist in the 1999 NCHA Futurity under Roy Carter, and sire of earners of $4.4 million, including Travs Scooter LTE $221,566, winner of the 2006 NCHA Futurity Non-Pro with Matt Miller, and Dual Ya Scoot $175,863, winner of the 2007 NCHA Futurity Amateur under the late Philip Layne.

Peptos Little Gal, the dam of Peptos Scootin Man, is an unshown daughter of Peptoboonsmal. Peptos Scootin Man is her first performer.
