Cats Full Moon over Paso Robles in PCCHA Derby

Cats Full Moon, 2007 PCCHA Futurity reserve champion with Tim Smith, got the gold this time around with a 226-point win under Steve Schlesinger in the PCCHA Derby. Wildcats scored 223 points to claim the reserve championship and the Open Derby Gelding championship with Russ Miller.

Cats Full Moon was started by Russ Miller and placed fifth in the Northwest Futurity last August with Schlesinger. “I feel very fortunate to have gotten him back this year to show,” said Schlesinger, who had $39,000 in lifetime earnings before his $13,296 win on Sunday. “He has a great mind and is a very willing horse.” [See complete results].

Brinkman Ranch owns and bred Cats Full Moon, a High Brow Cat son out of Darlin Little Dually, by Dual Pep. The stallion’s half-brother, Royal Dually, by CD Royal, was the high-selling lot at $32,5000, during the PCCHA Gelding Stakes Sale on Saturday, March 15.

Tim Smith rode Frecklesareinstyle to take the Open Classic Challenge with 224 points. Hick Chicaroo scored 223 under Scott Weis for reserve.
