sallyharrison.com Riding Twistd Mister, by Smooth As A Cat, Austin Adams, Logandale, Nev., scored 219.5 points on Saturday, the second day of 2019 NCHA Futurity Non-Pro and Non-Pro Limited competition, to tie Alexa Dahl, who showed Smoothie Lou Who on Friday. Page Bowman, riding Bunz Of Steel, by Metallic Cat, earned 218.5 points, Saturday’s second-highest score, while Cody Hedlund marked 218 on Lyin With Royalty, by One Time Royalty.

A ten-time NCHA Futurity finalist, Austin Adams earned his first Futurity buckle in 2003, when he showed Dual N Pep Lena to place fifth in the Amateur Finals. He has shown five times as a Non-Pro and Non-Pro Limited finalist and, in 2018, he placed seventh in the Futurity Open Limited riding Metallic Special Cat.

The NCHA earner of $402,765, this year Adams has shown 4-year-old Royalty And Cats, by One Time Royalty, to place among the top 10 Non-Pro finalists in the NCHA Super Stakes, the NCHA Derby, and the Breeders Invitational, and to earn $70,385. Twistd Mister, out of LB Ms Cowtown Twist LTE $56,267, by Doc O Lena Twist, is a full brother to Smooth As A Twist LTE $147,928.

Adams was also among the high-scoring Non-Pros on Friday with 217.5 points, riding One Blu Fox, by Once In A Blu Boon.

Page Bowman, Simpsonville, Ky., is the NCHA Non-Pro Hall of Fame earner of $645,274. In 2014, she won the NCHA Non-Pro Derby riding Big Daddys CD LTE $168,989, one of a trio of geldings, including Tom E Boy LTE $142,786, in 2015, and Athena Mad Man LTE $114,097, in 2014, who carried her for three consecutive Augusta Futurity 5/6 Classic Non-Pro championship wins.

Bowman also won the 2013 NCHA $15,000 Non-Pro Novice World Finals on Scoot Over Here LTE $120,656, a three-quarter brother to Snazzy Easter Bunny LTE $165,637, the dam of Bunz Of Steel. Snazzy Easter Bunny is also the dam of Big Daddys CD, and her dam, Oh Cay Shez Snazzy, is the maternal granddam of Tom E Boy, all bred by Page’s parents, Mike and Libby Bowman.

Cody Hedlund, the NCHA Non-Pro Hall of Fame earner of $983,817, made his first showing in the NCHA Non-Pro Futurity when he placed fifth in 2010 aboard Teles Bout This Cat LTE $230,047. Since then, Hedlund has been a finalist five more times, including in 2017, when he placed third riding Iggy Reyzalea LTE $84,451, by Dual Smart Rey.

On Friday, Hedlund scored 218.5 points on Luv The Way U Lie, a Once In A Blu Boon daughter out of Teles Bout This Cat LTE $230,047. Lyin With Royalty and Teles Bout This Cat, as well as Meteles Cat LTE $433,565, are all out of Teles Lies LTE $93,206, the producer of six earners of $814,523, owned and shown by Cody’s father, Rock Hedlund.
