Little Jackson Cat, reserve champion of Sunday’s $25,000 Novice Finals, scored 221 points on Tuesday, as champion of the NCHA Transwest Western Nationals, presented by 6666 Ranch, Open Finals. The win represented the third in three days for rider Mike Wood, who also showed Hesa Belle Cat to win the $5,000 Novice Finals and Peeptos Cat to win the $25,000 Novice Finals.
Metallic Cash Flo, shown by Brett Davis, and Cornrey, under Scott Amos, placed second and third, respectively, with 219 and 217.5 points.
Little Jackson Cat, the NCHA earner of $223,734, is a 9-year-old High Brow Cat daughter bred by Kenneth Jackson and owned by Dawn Chapman, Chandler, Ariz. Last year, Chapman showed the mare to place third in the NCHA $25,000 Novice Non-Pro World Finals, while Wood and Little Jackson Cat topped the NCHA $25,000 Novice World standings and the mare won the NCHA $25,000 Novice World Finals for the second year in a row.
Metallic Cash Flo LTE $41,541, owned by E.T. Jones, Dallas, Tex., won the first go-round of the Open division on Monday with 222 points. The 6-year-old daughter of Metallic Cat was first shown by Brett Davis as a 2016 NCHA Futurity Semi-Finalist and, more recently, the pair placed in this year’s Augusta Futurity 5/6 Classic Finals. In addition, Metallic Cash Flo and Davis placed as finalists in the NCHA Eastern Nationals $5,000 Novice Finals, as well as last Sunday’s NCHA Western Nationals $25,000 Novice Finals.
Metallic Cash Flo’s owner, E.T. Jones, showed Sheyken Pepto to place in this year’s NCHA Eastern Nationals $15,000 Amateur Finals, and is slated to ride the 12-year-old Peptoboonsmal daughter this week, in the $50,000 Amateur and $15,000 Amateur go-rounds.
Five-year-old Conrey LTE $38,744, was bred by Dan and Karen Hansen and is owned by Hank and Karen True, Glenrock, Wyo. Scott Amos showed the Dual Smart Rey gelding last year as a limited age finalist. The pair topped the PCCHA Futurity Open Limited division, and placed in the NCHA Super Stakes Finals.
Amos, the NCHA earner of $912,383, is a three-time NCHA Western Nationals Open champion. He showed Wee Little Badger, by Dual Jazz, to win back-to-back championships in 2004 and 2005, and once more, in 2008.
