Lindy Ashlock of Abilene, Texas, marked 222 to lead the first day of Non-Pro Classic Challenge competition Tuesday at the NCHA Summer Spectacular, presented by Great American Insurance, in Fort Worth, Texas, on July 19.

She rode Little Miss One Time, a 6-year-old mare bred by Eddie and Barbara Young by One Time Pepto out of Puddykat, by High Brow Cat.

Ashlock has won championships at the Brazos Bash, Abilene Spectacular and West Texas Futurity with the mare. Little Miss One Time has earned more than $128,000.

Cody Hedlund marked 219 for Tuesday’s second high score with Shez Like Texas. The 5-year-old mare bred by Billy Martin is by Light N Lena out of Dual Delight, which Martin rode to win the Augusta Futurity Non-Pro championship in 1997.

Hedlund was reserve champion with Shez Like Texas at the Pacific Coast Derby this year.

Judy Rogers of Rockdale, Texas marked 218.5 to top the first day in the Limited Non-Pro division. She rode Dualin Cat Lena, a 5-year-old Dualin Boon gelding bred by Jim Bilbrey. Judy’s husband, Jonathan, showed Dualin Cat Lena in the 2014 NCHA Futurity Open finals. Judy Rogers was reserve champion in the 2014 Limited Non-Pro Classic Challenge with CD Pretty Lady.

The first round of the Non-Pro and Limited Non-Pro Classic Challenge concludes on Wednesday.
