NCHA Open World Champion Sugrspiznevrthingniz sold for $260,000 to top Session I of the Western Bloodstock Preferred Breeders Sale.

Session I of the 2021 Preferred Breeders Sale on Friday, December 10, the next-to-last day of the NCHA Futurity and the NCHA Futurity Sales, continued the record-breaking trend of the first four days of the sales.

Session I of the Preferred Breeders Sale saw 94% of those offered – 120 of 127 lots – sold for an average price of $40,208. Four horses sold for $100,000 or more, including two for $200,000 or more. By comparison, horses selling in Session I of the 2020 Preferred Breeders Sale averaged $23,056 with 92% completed sales, which was a substantial increase over the 2019 sale.

2021 NCHA Open World Champion Sugrspiznevrthingniz LTE $283,366, by Kit Kat Sugar, was the 2021 Session I high seller at $260,000. Consigned by Rock Creek Cutting Horses, LLC, Sugrspiznevrthingniz was a top limited age event competitor under Matt Gaines, with three reserve championships at four, including the NCHA Super Stakes.

This year Gaines qualified 6-year-old Sugrspiznevrthingniz for the Open World Finals, where he clinched her World Championship on Saturday, December 4, at Will Rogers Equestrian Center, for Rock Creek Ranch owner James Vangilder. And just six days later, with a winning bid of $260,000, by Scott Amos, Agent for Rockin R Ranch, Sugrspiznevrthingniz had a new owner.

Consigned by Holmes Performance Horses/Linda Holmes, Reylolita, by Dual Rey, brought $200,000, the session’s second-highest price, from Gregory Williamson, Fort Worth, Tex. The yearling filly is out of Miss Stylish Katz $105,086, who as yet has no performers, but is a full sister, out of Miss Stylish Pepto LTE $224,930, to nine earners of $619,140, including Cat Atat Cat $283,176.

River Reyn, consigned by Jody Galyean, brought $125,000 from Kevin Knight Scottsdale, Arizona. The yearling son of Metallic Cat is out of Goodbye To The Reyn, an NCHA money earner and dam of two 4-year-old full siblings to River Reyn, Reyn Of Fire LTE $28,467 and Red Reyn $21,594. Second dam, A Black Widow LTE $104,725, by High Brow Cat, is the dam of 10 money earners, including Halreycious daughter No Way In Hal LTE $135,223, whose first money earner is 4-year-old Cardi Bay LTE $74,938, by One Time Royalty.
