2017 NCHA Eastern National Championships – March 9, 2018 – Jackson, Miss.

Ryleigh Ferrier, Aubrey, Tex., and Grant Martin, Hensley, Ark., tied with 219 points on Friday to top a field of 29 riders in the $15,000 Amateur Finals. Callie Richardson, Magnolia, Miss., placed third with 216 points.

Ryleigh Ferrier rode 7-year-old Ichi City Limits, by Cat Ichi, who carried her to win the NCHA Denver Nationals Junior Youth Finals last year, and to place in the $15,000 Amateur and $35,000 Non-Pro finals of the same event. Bred by EE Ranches, Ichi City Limits also carried EE Ranches’ owner Jo Ellard as an Unlimited Amateur finalist in the 2015 NCHA Derby and the 2015 Brazos Bash. In addition, Dusty Nelsen showed the gelding as a $5,000 Novice finalist in both the Eastern and Western National Championships in 2016.

Grant Martin showed 8-year-old TR Reyn Dancer, by TR Dual Rey, in the Senior Youth Finals of the 2015 and 2016 NCHA Eastern Nationals. He will be aboard 9-year-old Cats Playtime, by Smooth As a Cat, on Saturday, in the Senior Youth go-round.  And Ryleigh Ferrier will show Ichi City Limits in the Junior Youth go-round on Saturday, as well.

Callie Richardson rode 13-year-old See Da Cat, sired by WR This Cats Smart and owned by Janet Cagley, Kentwood, La. See Da Cat LTE $139,731 carried Janet Cagley as 2014 NCHA $50,000 World Champion and has been an NCHA Eastern Nationals finalist every year since 2012, including 2013, when he was an Open finalist under Keith Deaville. This marks Callie’s first time to qualify for the NCHA Eastern Nationals.
