The Bonanza 5/6-Year-Old Open Finals belonged to Wesley Gaylean and SMF Cutting Horses, who claimed the top titles with Button Down Supercat, by Dual Rey, and Cowcat 511, by Metallic Cat.

Button Down Supercat, a full sister to Lil Rattler LTE $328,273, out of 2005 NCHA Futurity champion Highbrow Supercat LTE $364,690, scored 223 points to win the 5/6-Year-Old Open under Galyean; Cowcat 511 took reserve with 221.5 points. Beau Galyean, Wesley’s brother, scored 220.5 points for third aboard Magic Metallic, owned by Alvin Fults and sired by Metallic Cat.

This was the first major win for 5-year-old Button Down Supercat, but not her richest paycheck. She earned $42,803 as reserve champion of the 2015 Breeders Invitational, and placed third to claim $25,173 in the NCHA Derby Open. She has lifetime earnings of $134,356.

Five-year-old Cowcat 511 earned $21,283 as winner of the 2015 Breeders Invitational under Galyean, and was also champion of the Pacific Coast Derby Open Gelding division. The red roan gelding has lifetime earnings of $84,271.

Five horses each scored 218 points to tie for fourth through eighth, including Dino Velvet, by Smooth As A Cat, owned by Kyle Manion and ridden by Jason Clark. Clark also won the Bonanza 4-Year-Old Open aboard Smooth Scooten, owned by Tommy Manion and sired by Smooth As A Cat. Also tying with 218 points were Metallic Man, by Metallic Cat, with Clint Allen for David and Stacie McDavid; Smart Kitty Rey RG, by Dual Rey, with Lloyd Cox for Monty Johnson; Stylin Sweetie, by Stylin Cat, with Lloyd Cox for John McClaren; and Lil Jackson Cat, by High Brow Cat, with Lloyd Cox for Thomas and Natalie Humphreville.

Kelle Earnheart won the 4-Year-Old Non-Pro championship with 219 points on Flash N Silver, by Purdy Boy Flash, and Lindy Ashlock too reserve with 218 points riding Smooth Kwackin Cat, by Smooth As A Cat. Cody Hedlund scored 225 points to claim the 5/6-Year-Old Non-Pro aboard Meteles Cat, by Metallic Cat and Brandon Dufurrena scored 218.5 points as reserve champion aboard, Purple Reyn, by Metalic Cat.

This was the fourteenth championship win for 6-year-old Meteles Cat, who has lifetime earnings of $336,239. Six-year-old Purple Reyn is the lifetime earner of $260,396.
