Curry Diehl cashed in his chips for $28,000 at the South Point Cutting in Las Vegas on Thursday with wins aboard Henry Harwood in the Non-Pro Derby and Play Xclusive in the 5/6-Year-Old Non-Pro Classic. Sammy Nevis claimed the Non-Pro Futurity and $12,000 with 219 points on Missin Starlena, the mare that Shad Platt had ridden earlier in the week as champion of the $25,000-added Open Futurity.

Diehl, 23, who lives in Millsap, TX, was most recently non-pro 4-year-old reserve champion on Henry Harwood at the Cotton Stakes and has lifetime NCHA earnings of nearly $400,000.

The South Point title on Missin Starlena was the first championship win for Nevis, 35, of Live Oak, CA, who rode his Pastels Smart Lena daughter as reserve champion of the NWCHA Ranch Festival last month. Nevis has lifetime earnings of $52,500.

Reserve champions of the South Point non-pro divisions include: Jim Vangilder with 210 points on 3-year-old Snap N Play; Matt Miller who scored 219 on both Travs Scooter and Soda Rey Bay to split 2/3 in the Derby; and Jill Peacock with 222.5 points on Woody Be Tuff in the Classic.

The $280,000-added South Point Cutting concluded its 10-day run with the non-pro division finals.
