{"id":985,"date":"2009-02-07T13:54:41","date_gmt":"2009-02-07T18:54:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/?p=985"},"modified":"2009-02-07T14:05:09","modified_gmt":"2009-02-07T19:05:09","slug":"galyean-and-galyean-top-tunica-futurity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/?p=985","title":{"rendered":"Galyean and Galyean top Tunica Futurity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/features\/pix\/2009\/Galyeans.jpg\" class=\"floatright\" \/>Hangem Cat and Wesley Galyean were decisive winners of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/?p=984\">Tunica Open Futurity <\/a>with 223 points on Friday, February 6. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nchacutting.com\/futurity\/2008dailychatter\/1215dcweb.pdf\">NCHA Futurity <\/a>champion <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/?p=924\">Metallic Cat <\/a>and Beau Galyean claimed reserve with 218 points.<\/p>\n<p>The Galyean brothers and their father, Jody (Wes, Beau and Jody, left to right in photo), dominated the 31-horse Tunica Futurity with seven finalists and a claim to 34 percent of the $169,100 purse. Hangem High Cat, owned by Steven Feiner, earned $22,000. His previous best was as 29th-place finalist at the Abilene Spectacular.<\/p>\n<p>Metallic Cat, winner of the Abilene Spectacular, as well as the NCHA Futurity, earned $18,181, for a total earnings of $318,181 in two months of showing. The High Brow Cat son (Hangem Cat is also sired by High Brow Cat) is owned by Alvin Fults, Amarillo, TX.<\/p>\n<p>Wes Galyean also placed 5th on Rio Tazz, owned by Christin Glover, and 16th on Mandalay Rey 4th-placed at Augusta), owned by Fults. Beau finished out of the premium money on Double Down Peppy, as did Jody on Rose Colored Cat and Seca Rey Lena.<\/p>\n<p>Hangem Cat and Metallic Cat each earned cumulative go-round scores that ranked them among the leaders. Hay Maker, ridden by R.L.
