{"id":9657,"date":"2012-12-03T01:29:54","date_gmt":"2012-12-03T06:29:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/?p=9657"},"modified":"2012-12-03T02:36:08","modified_gmt":"2012-12-03T07:36:08","slug":"bamacat-leads-sunday-qualifiers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/?p=9657","title":{"rendered":"Bamacat leads Sunday qualifiers"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_9658\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9658\" style=\"width: 258px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/home_20121203.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9658 \" title=\"Bamacat\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/home_20121203.jpg\" alt=\"Bamacat\" width=\"258\" height=\"280\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/home_20121203.jpg 322w, https:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/home_20121203-276x300.jpg 276w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 258px) 100vw, 258px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9658\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Austin Shepard on Bamacat.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"?p=9614\">Nothing To Lose<\/a> reigned supreme, following\u00c2\u00a0 the conclusion of Open go-round competition, yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The High Brow Cat son, owned and shown by Tate Bennett, tied\u00c2\u00a0 Bennett\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s other mount, Rios Jewel, for the win of the the first go-round with 221 points, then scored 217 in the second round to earn the top cumulative score of 438 points and a first-class ticket to the Open Semi-Finals on Friday, December 14.<\/p>\n<p>Rios Jewel also qualified for the Semi-Finals with 436 points.<\/p>\n<p>Steve Earl, ridden by Bill Riddle, and Bamacat, with Austin Shepard, each scored 219 points to tie for the win in the second go-round.<\/p>\n<p>Steve Earl qualified for the Semi-Finals with 425.5 points,\u00c2\u00a0 on Saturday, while Bamacat squeezed by Friday with 431 points on a bubble of 430.<\/p>\n<p>He Bea Cat and Tarin Rice scored 218.5 points to tie Looks Halreycious and Morgan Cromer with the second highest score from the second go-round; Donas Suen Boon and Kobie Wood tied for third with 218 points.<\/p>\n<p>Stacy and I are big Alabama fans,&#8221; said Shepard, who lives in Summerdale, Ala., where he and Stacy raised Bamacat out of MH San Tule Dually, LTE $330,220, shown by Stacy to win the 2008 Millionaire 5-Year-Old Non-Pro Classic.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Alabama won their game yesterday and people told us, if (Alabama) could come from behind and win, we could, too.<\/p>\n<p>With a score of 212 points from the first go-round, Bamacat and Shepard\u00c2\u00a0 faced a hurdle in the second round, with\u00c2\u00a0 the bubble at 430 points.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We had a rough first go-round,&#8221; said Shepard, who won the 2007 NCHA Futurity on High Brow CD. &#8220;The cattle were bad and we didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t get shown very clean. I was terribly disappointed because he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s been such a special horse.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These cattle were a lot easier to handle today. I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m about as happy as I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve ever been to make the Semis.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He Bea Cat and Tarin Rice also faced testy cattle in the first go-round, where they scored 215 points.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The horse really tried hard in the first go-round,&#8221; said Rice of the High Brow Cat son, owned by Jim Crawford.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I cut some tough cows and was really proud of the way he held them. But I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t feel like I did as good a job as I should have in cutting the cows and maybe that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s why they were a little bit wild.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I feel like he always tries to help.and I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been really happy with him all year.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Donas Suen Boon, by Boon Too Suen, is a homebred owned and trained by Kobie Wood, who showed both her father and mother.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nothing To Lose reigned supreme, following\u00c2\u00a0 the conclusion of Open go-round competition, yesterday.
