{"id":8352,"date":"2011-11-14T15:21:43","date_gmt":"2011-11-14T20:21:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/?p=8352"},"modified":"2011-11-14T15:21:43","modified_gmt":"2011-11-14T20:21:43","slug":"big-time-in-cowtown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/?p=8352","title":{"rendered":"Big time in Cowtown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/cattle_raisers.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/cattle_raisers.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"cattle_raisers\" width=\"245\" height=\"162\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-8353\" \/><\/a>The Western horse world will be focused on Fort Worth, Texas one week from today, when the <a href=\"http:\/\/nchacutting.com\">NCHA Futurity <\/a>begins its 20-day run and the 50th anniversary celebration of cutting&#8217;s crowning event.<\/p>\n<p>From November 21 through December 10, in addition to the Futurity, NCHA will also host a special Champions Cup for past Futurity champions; the 65th NCHA World Finals competition; and the 5-day NCHA Futurity Sale, presented, along with Super Stallion Saturday, by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.westernbloodstock.com\/2011_futurity.html\">Western Bloodstock<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>All NCHA Futurity events take place at the Will Rogers Equestrian Center complex, but on December 7, just next door, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cattleraisersmuseum.org\/\">Cattle Raisers Museum<\/a>, located in the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, will honor stockmen and the artists who portray them with the opening of a special exhibition.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wepointedthemnorth.com\/\">We Pointed Them North 2011<\/a> features the art of 12 prominent, contemporary Western artists, most of whom have roots in ranching and riding. <a href=\"http:\/\/theblakestudios.com\/buckeyeblake.html\">Buckeye Blake<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/tealblake.com\/\">Teal Blake<\/a>, for instance, are descendants of C.S. &#8220;Coke&#8221; Blake, a founding father of the Quarter Horse breed.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cowboyethics.org\/BobMoorhouse.php\">Award-winning photographer Bob Moorhouse<\/a> worked for the famous Pitchfork Ranch of Texas for 35 years, including 20 years as manager and vice president.<\/p>\n<p>Other artists featured in the We Pointed Them North exhibition include <a href=\" http:\/\/www.mwcapron.com\/www.mwcapron.com\/Welcome.html\">Mike Capron<\/a>; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brucegreeneart.com\/index.asp\">Bruce Green<\/a>; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tdkelsey.com\/\">T.D. Kelsey<\/a>; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.markkohlerstudio.com\/index2.php#\/home\/\">Mark Kohler<\/a>; <a href=\"http:\/\/mackeyarts.com\/default.aspx\">Kim Mackey<\/a>; Dave Powell; <a href=\"http:\/\/jwsegler.com\/?load=flash\">J.W.
