Past NCHA Futurity Non-Pro champion Kelle Earnheart topped the first day of XTO Energy NCHA Super Stakes Non-Pro competition with 219 points on Cancan Reyvolution, who she showed to third place in the 2010 NCHA Futurity Non-Pro.<\/p>\n

“He’s probably one of the better horses I’ve ever ridden,” said Earnheart of her Dual Rey gelding.<\/p>\n

“He’s really talented and smart about a cow, and he stops really, really hard.<\/p>\n

“He’s a good horse all the way around and he wants to help you – and that means a lot.”<\/p>\n

Since the 2010 NCHA Futurity, Earnheart has shown Cancan Reyvolution at two events and won three titles. She was champion of the Tunica Non-Pro Futurity<\/a>; the Bonanza Non-Pro<\/a> Futurity; and the Bonanza Non-Pro Gelding<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In three months, the gelding earned over $70,000 with his owner.<\/p>\n

Cancan Reyvolution also qualified with trainer Clint Allen for the NCHA Super Stakes Semi-Finals and tonight’s Open Gelding Stakes. Allen had trained the horse for previous owner and breeder, Cinder Lakes Ranch. Earnheart purchased him from Cinder Lakes, last fall.<\/p>\n

Earnheart’s sold her other 2010 NCHA Futurity mount, Whata Stylish Badger, last month to Travis Linville, who rode the Reys Dual Badger gelding las champion of last week’s NCHA Super Stakes Amateur<\/a> division.<\/p>\n

Billy Martin posted 218.5 points, yesterday’s second-highest score, on homegrown Light N Lily, sired by Martin’s stallion Light N Lena.<\/p>\n

Trainer Clint Allen also had a hand in Light N Lily’s development.<\/p>\n

“I sent her to Clint Allen for two months quite a ways before the Futurity,” said Martin. “Other than that, I’ve trained her all the way.<\/p>\n

“She was easy to train. She’s very smart and sensible and takes very little riding.”<\/p>\n

Martin recognizes many similarities between Light N Lily and her sire.<\/p>\n

“They’re so easy across a cow and they have a lot of draw to them,” said Martin. “It’s really neat to be able to ride one behind Light N Lena, remembering how he was. He puts a lot of the same into his babies.”<\/p>\n

Martin and trainer Phil Rapp showed Light N Lena, whose oldest foals are six, to earn over $170,000.<\/p>\n

Martin’s daughter, Kaitlyn Larsen, showed Laredo Montana, by Light N Lena, to place as reserve champion in last week’s NCHA Super Stakes Non-Pro Classic<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
