{"id":7339,"date":"2011-04-10T09:42:44","date_gmt":"2011-04-10T14:42:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/?p=7339"},"modified":"2011-04-10T11:23:17","modified_gmt":"2011-04-10T16:23:17","slug":"sly-playgirl-with-224","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/?p=7339","title":{"rendered":"Sly Playgirl leads first day of Open second round with 224"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_7340\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7340\" style=\"width: 252px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/snider-jamie-20110409a.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7340\" title=\"Jaime Snider\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/snider-jamie-20110409a.jpg\" alt=\"Jaime Snider\" width=\"252\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/snider-jamie-20110409a.jpg 252w, https:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/snider-jamie-20110409a-216x300.jpg 216w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 252px) 100vw, 252px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-7340\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jaime Snider with Sly Playgirl.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Three of yesterday&#8217;s leaders &#8211; on the first day of the XTO Energy NCHA Super Stakes Open second round &#8211; came from last set of cattle, including Stylish Martini, with the top cumulative score of 436.5 (216 and 220.5) under Roger Wagner for Marvine Ranch.<\/p>\n<p>But it was Sly Playgirl, with Jaime Snider, who claimed the day with a 224-point performance, late in the fourth set.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We had to make up a little ground,&#8221; said Snider, who had scored 212 points on the That Sly Cat daughter in the first go-round.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We knew we had to do something, so we cut a little quicker cattle and it worked.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Sly Playgirl is owned by Robert Borick, who purchased her last May from her breeding home, Slate River Ranch, where she had been started by John Mitchell.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;She&#8217;s been good every time I&#8217;ve shown her,&#8221; said Snider, who  earned $10,000 on Sly Playgirl as an NCHA Futurity semi-finalist; placed third on her in the 2011 <a title=\"2011 Bonanza\" href=\"http:\/\/stats.sallyharrison.com\/show_results.php?show=BONANZA&amp;age=4&amp;class=OPEN&amp;yr=2011\">Bonanza<\/a>; and made the finals with her in the <a title=\"2011 Arbuckle Mountain Futurity\" href=\"http:\/\/stats.sallyharrison.com\/show_results.php?show=ARBUCKLE+MOUNTAIN&amp;age=4&amp;class=OPEN&amp;yr=2011\">Arbuckle Mountain Futurity<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;She wasn&#8217;t hard to train, but she wasn&#8217;t easy, either, because she&#8217;s so gritty and tough,&#8221; said Snider. &#8220;But that&#8217;s what makes her as good as she is. The tougher it gets, the tougher she is.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Her half-brother was the same way.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Snider&#8217;s wife, Ashley, showed Bobs A Player, by Bobs Freckle, out of Taquitas Playgirl, the dam of Sly Playgirl, to win the 2009 NCHA Futurity Non-Pro Limited. This year, Ashley claimed the Bonanza Non-Pro Classic championship with the gelding.<\/p>\n<p>Snider also scored 219 points yesterday on his own horse, Sly Chance, bred by Slate River Ranch and sired by resident stallion That Sly Cat.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He&#8217;s got a nice, pretty way of moving \u00e2\u20ac\u201d really low and with a lot of eye appeal,&#8221; said Snider of Sly Chance.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He had colic surgery a year ago and we had to lay him off for over three months. It&#8217;s just a matter of catching him back up to where he needed to be.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ashley Snider showed Sly Chance to win the <a title=\"2011 Arbuckle Mountain Non-Pro\" href=\"http:\/\/stats.sallyharrison.com\/show_results.php?show=ARBUCKLE+MOUNTAIN&amp;age=4&amp;class=NON-PRO&amp;yr=2011\">2011 Arbuckle Mountain Non-Pro<\/a> and place as a finalist in the<a title=\"2011 Bonanza Non-Pro\" href=\"http:\/\/stats.sallyharrison.com\/show_results.php?show=BONANZA&amp;age=4&amp;class=NON-PRO&amp;yr=2011\"> Bonanza Non-Pro<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_7344\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7344\" style=\"width: 118px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/morris-casey-20110409b.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7344 \" title=\"Casey Morris\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/morris-casey-20110409b.jpg\" alt=\"Casey Morris\" width=\"118\" height=\"160\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-7344\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Casey Morris.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h3>Felix The Kat<\/h3>\n<p>Casey Morris and Bobby and Francie Butler&#8217;s stallion Felix The Kat set the tone for yesterday&#8217;s action with a 222-point performance, as the last to show in the first set of cattle.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve been drawing last for the past year, but I have good help and we found a few decent cows,&#8221; said Morris.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He&#8217;s really a good horse. He&#8217;s got a lot of cow and he can hold a cow for a long time.<\/p>\n<p>Morris trained the Butler-bred colt and showed him as an NCHA Futurity semi-finalist, as well as a finalist in the <a title=\"2011 Cattlemen's Derby\" href=\"http:\/\/stats.sallyharrison.com\/show_results.php?show=CATTLEMENS+DERBY&amp;age=4&amp;class=OPEN&amp;yr=2011\">2011 Cattlemen&#8217;s Derby<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Stylish Martini<\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_7345\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7345\" style=\"width: 113px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/wagnerroger-20110409b.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7345 \" title=\"Roger Wagner\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/wagnerroger-20110409b.jpg\" alt=\"Roger Wagner\" width=\"113\" height=\"160\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-7345\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Roger Wagner.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Stylish Martini, bred by Marvine Ranch and a half-sister to Copaspepto, NCHA earner of over $400,000, showed herself as a top contender, with Roger Wagner, in the NCHA Futurity, where she placed fourth.<\/p>\n<p>This year, the Docs Stylish Oak daughter and Wagner were finalists in the <a title=\"2011 Abilene Spectacular\" href=\"http:\/\/stats.sallyharrison.com\/show_results.php?show=ABILENE+SPECTACULAR&amp;age=4&amp;class=OPEN&amp;yr=2011\">Abilene Spectacular<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I showed her at Graham (Cattlemen&#8217;s) this year and flushed a cow and never made it to the second go-round,&#8221; said Wagner. &#8220;That is the only other show I&#8217;ve taken her to this year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;She likes this pen, I think. It gives her some room to spread out.
