\"\"<\/a>The American Quarter Horse Association released its 2010 Annual Report on March 3, during the annual AQHA convention in Grapevine, Tex.<\/p>\n

Statistics compiled by the association reveal that while the U.S. population of Quarter Horses and new registrations declined from 2009 numbers, Canadian and International populations increased.<\/p>\n

The total U.S. Quarter Horse population of 2,694,764 reflected a decrease of 63,890 from 2009. The international population increased by 5,761 to a total of 141,601. The figures reflect elimination of all horses age 25 and over, unless the owner submitted documentation proving the horse to be still living.<\/p>\n

There were 83,736 new U.S. registrations in 2010 – down 10,099 from 2009 numbers; there were 7,126 new international registration – down 432 from 2009.<\/p>\n

\nOklahoma – 184,424
\nCalifornia – 132,499
\nAlberta – 106,803
\nMissouri – 105,593<\/p>\n

The top 5 states\/provinces\/countries in terms of AQHA membership were:
\nTexas – 41,186
\nCalifornia – 17,970
\nOklahoma – 14,019
\nColorado – 8,876
\nOhio – 8,384
\nGermany ranked ninth with 6,780 members.<\/p>\n
