{"id":5889,"date":"2010-10-15T14:55:06","date_gmt":"2010-10-15T19:55:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/?p=5889"},"modified":"2024-09-29T13:38:52","modified_gmt":"2024-09-29T18:38:52","slug":"bull-market-for-buffalo-ranch-sale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/?p=5889","title":{"rendered":"Bull market for Buffalo Ranch Sale"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_5890\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5890\" style=\"width: 252px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/Highlight-Cat-small.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5890\" title=\"Highlight Cat small\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/Highlight-Cat-small.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"252\" height=\"278\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5890\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Highlightcat at $340,000<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Buffalo Ranch Dispersal, held at the ranch in Fort Worth on Thursday, October 14, was a bell ringer for the cutting industry with an average of $29,700 on the total catalog of 72 horses.<\/p>\n<p>Buyers from New Guinea, Australia, Brazil, Germany, Mexico and Canada, accounted for 34 percent of the sales, including volume buyer Sandi Daisley of Papua, New Guinea, who paid $340,000 for the sale topper &#8211; 9-year-old stallion Highlightcat, the 2004 NCHA Futurity Non-Pro champion sired by High Brow Cat.<\/p>\n<p>Daisley, who owns a ranch in Australia, also paid $100,000 for the 8-year-old Dual Rey daughter SDP Debbys Dream, who was the high-selling broodmare from 13 that were offered in the sale.<\/p>\n<p>The 13 broodmares, including three older mares who have been successfully bred via oocyte transfer, averaged $53,080.<\/p>\n<p>SDP Ace Of Diamonds, by High Brow Cat, was the sale&#8217;s second-highest seller at $200,000. The 3-year-old stallion, trained by Phil Rapp, is paid in full for the 2010 NCHA Futurity and was purchased by Luiz Paulo Ramos of Sao Paolo, Brazil.<\/p>\n<p>A total of eight 3-year-old prospects sold for an average of $49,230.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Lot #43, a filly, name pending, by Hydrive Cat out of Hicapoo, was the high-selling yearling at $50,000.\u00c2\u00a0She was one of a\u00c2\u00a0total of 10 Hydrive Cat yearlings that brought an average price of $25,500. The eight cataloged weanlings by Hydrive Cat sold for an average of $12,275.<\/p>\n<p><p>&#8220;One of the bright spots in the sale for Buffalo Ranch was the reception of Hydrive Cat&#8217;s offspring,&#8221; said Jim Ware of Western Bloodstock, the auction company that produced the sale. &#8220;Breeders are always looking for a value and at a $3,500 stud fee (Hydrive Cat was retained to stand at Buffalo Ranch), with 2009 yearlings as his first crop, he looks to be a good bargain.
