\u201cWe were confident coming into this sale that we could hold even with last year’s results or advance them slightly, but I never imagined that we would be able to report such positive numbers,\u201d said Jeff Tebow, general manager of Heritage Place, following the sale company’s Winter Mixed Sale <\/a>of race bred Quarter Horses, Thoroughbreds, and Paint horses, which concluded on January 15 in Oklahoma City.<\/p>\n

Preliminary results show gross sales on 832 Quarter Horses increased 32 percent over 2009 for a total of $8,683,250, while repurchases were down to nine percent from 14 percent in 2009. The overall average was $9,480 including repurchase, an increase of 13 percent over 2009. Four lots sold sold for six figures, while 14 lots sold for $50,000 or more.<\/p>\n

Dashin Follies, by Strawfly Special, tied the all-time record for a Quarter Horse broodmare sold at auction with a winning bid of $875,000. The cutting horse broodmare, Meradas Little Sue also sold for $875,000, at Western Bloodstock’s NCHA Futurity Sales in 2001.<\/p>\n

Consigned by Michael Pohl, 11-year-old Dashin Follies, dam of stakes winner PYC Paint Your Wagon (pictured), was purchased by agent Tyler Graham for Mexican-based buyers who preferred to remain anonymous. She sold with two embryos by Corona Cartel and Jet Black Patriot. Graham also purchased the second-highest selling lot, Coronita Cartel, consigned by Pohl for $250,000. Coronita Cartel is by Corona Cartel out of Dashin Follies.<\/p>\n

The third-highest seller, at $150,000,\u00a0was 5-year-old A Tempting Strawfly, by Strawfly Special,\u00a0half-sister to G1 stakes winners Tempting Dash and A Tempting Dash. Consigned by Ron and Denise Van Amburgh, she sold to Vaughn and Jill Cook.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
