Freaky was announced 2009 world racing champion during the American Quarter Horse Association’s annual racing award ceremony on January 13, in Oklahoma City.<\/p>\n
Owned by Armando Aguirre of Surprise, Arizona, 4-year-old Freaky won six of nine starts and earned $580,860 during his championship season. The TR Dasher son, out of Chickasecret by Raise A Secret, was also voted champion aged horse and champion aged gelding.<\/p>\n
Freaky began his career under the ownership of his breeder, Ed Allred. Purchased by Aguirre on January 28, 2009, he won the Champion of Champions (G1); the Los Alamitos Invitational Championship (G1); the Vessels Maturity (G1); and the Spencer Childers California Breeders\u2019 Championship (RG1); and also set three Los Alamitos track records. He made his first two starts of the year for trainer Scott Willoughby and the remaining seven for Adan Farias.<\/p>\n
Other horses receiving honors included Runnning Brook Gal, champion 2-year-old and champion 2-year-old filly; Tempting Dash, champion 2-year-old colt; First Klas Fred, champion 2-year-old gelding; Inseperable, champion 3-year-old and champion 3-year-old colt; Alice K White, champion 3-year-old filly; Time For A Cigar, champion 3-year-old gelding; First Moonflash, champion aged stallion; Stylish Jess BR, champion aged mare; Gone To The Mountain, champion distance horse; Ze Dancer, Mexican champion; Six Pack Of Corona, Canadian champion; and A Tempting Chick, broodmare of the year.<\/p>\n
