Charismatic cutting champion Spots Hot, winner of the 2004 NCHA Open Futurity, surpassed $500,000 in earnings with his recent win in the 5\/6-Year-Old division of the Music City Futurity. The accomplishment places him among the ranks of the sport’s top 20 all-time money earners and third among stallions that are currently standing to the public.<\/p>\n
Spots Hot was bred by NCHA Hall of Fame trainer Jody Galyean, Ardmore, OK, and is owned by Galyean’s son Wesley, who trained the stallion and has shown him throughout his career. In addition to the NCHA Futurity, his wins include the Memphis and Suncoast open futurities, as well as the Abilene Spectacular and Memphis Classic non-pro 5\/6-year-old divisions. He was also non-pro champion of the Augusta Futurity, as well as three other major events.<\/p>\n
“He\u2019s amazing,” says Galyean of the Chula Dual son. “I\u2019m just fortunate to have him.<\/p>\n
“It\u2019s not about the money, for me, anyway,” he added. “It\u2019s not why I do it. It\u2019s like a football player or a golfer. This is what we love to do and we\u2019re really fortunate to get to do something that we love.”<\/p>\n
Galyean’s brother Beau is also a top non-pro money earner; Jody Galyean ranks among cutting’s top 10 all-time leading money earners.<\/p>\n
Spots Hot is the first foal out of the Shorty Lena daughter Sweet Shorty Lena, earner of $110,484 under both Jody and Wesley. Sweet Shorty Lena’s only other performer, 5-year-old Sweeties Wild Child, by Dual Rey, has earned $88,000 for Beau Galyean, who has shown her as a finalist in 12 major events, including the NCHA Non-Pro Futurity and as reserve non-pro champion of the 2006 Brazos Bash.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
