The horse was Docs Linda, owned by Neil and Linda Mussallem. Forty-one years later, on Tuesday, November 22, 2019, the NCHA Hall of Fame Rider and 1995 NCHA Futurity champion scored 225 points to top the second day of NCHA Futurity Open go-round competition. He was riding <strong>Metallic Rey Mink<\/strong>, sired by Metallic Cat and bred and owned by the historic Los Jaboncillos Ranch, Premont, Tex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two horses tied with Tuesday\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s second-highest score, 222\npoints &#8211; Hottish-sired <strong>Calientee<\/strong>,\nshown by Cullen Chartier for Circle R Cutting Horses LLC, Ocala, Fla., and Metallic\nCat daughter <strong>Pipe Bomb Dream<\/strong>, shown\nby Geoffrey Sheehan for Beechfork Ranch, Weatherford, Tex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Metallic Hill<\/strong>, sired\nby Metallic Cat and bred and owned by Rocking P Ranch, Fort Worth, Tex., earned\n221 points, the days third-highest score, under Jesse Lennox, while <strong>Hot Whittle Kitty<\/strong>, by Hottish, and\nCookie Banuelos marked 220.5 for her owner and breeder, Paula Gaughn, Las\nVegas, Nev.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The banner day also included two 220-point scores, earned by\nMetallic Cat daughter <strong>Little Naked\nDancer<\/strong>, shown by Nate Miller for her owner and breeder Lannie Louise Mecon,\nAvondale, Colo., and <strong>Rosa Del Pepto<\/strong>,\nsired by One Time Pepto and ridden by Zeb Corvin for Stella Swanson, Midland,\nTex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/1996-Jan_FC.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16933\" width=\"236\" height=\"303\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/1996-Jan_FC.jpg 608w, https:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/1996-Jan_FC-234x300.jpg 234w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 236px) 100vw, 236px\" \/><figcaption>Bellenfant marked 225 to win the 1995 Futurity on Peptoboonsmal.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Something about 225<\/em><\/strong><br>\nWhat might have been a massacre for another horse and rider turned into a\ntriumph for Gary Bellenfant and Peptoboonsmal in the storied 1995 NCHA\nFuturity. Working last in the first set of the Finals, Peptoboonsmal earned 225\npoints with a 40-second siege that was a perfect counterpoint to his 225-point\nSemi-Finals run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I had no idea how long he could last on a cow like that,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d\nBellenfant admitted. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Stay with it until I heard the whistle was all that\noccurred to me.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By the time the whistle blew, the roar of the crowd drowned\nout its sound and Bellenfant hung with the feisty heifer for another few seconds.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bellenfant\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s 2019 mount, Metallic Rey Mink, carries\nPeptoboonsmal on the top side of his pedigree through Chers Shadow, Metallic\nCat\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s dam, bred by Lindy Burch\/Oxbow Ranch out of Shesa Smarty Lena, the 1995\nNCHA Open World Finals champion, shown by Burch.
