An &nbsp;NCHA Members Hall of Fame inductee , as well\nas a member of the NCHA Non-Pro Hall of Fame, Moore was also NCHA Non-Pro Reserve\nWorld Champion in 1979 and 1980 riding Royal Santana, who he showed to win the\n1980 NCHA Non-Pro World Finals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/royal-santana.png\" alt=\"Tommy Moore\" class=\"wp-image-16497\" width=\"321\" height=\"318\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/royal-santana.png 715w, https:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/royal-santana-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/www.sallyharrison.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/royal-santana-300x297.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 321px) 100vw, 321px\" \/><figcaption>Tommy Moore on Royal Santana.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>During Moore\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s two-year term as NCHA president, he was instrumental in seeing the Judges Monitor System put into practice. In addition, during his term, the NCHA Classic and Challenge, at that time separate classes, were integrated into the NCHA Derby (Summer Spectacular) venue, and Moore won the first NCHA Challenge Non-Pro championship, showing Sana Doc, by Peppy San.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moore became interested in cutting competition in 1975,\nafter retiring from his businesses, including a company that manufactured\nelectric and acoustic guitars sold worldwide under the Jackson-Charvel name. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trainer Dub Dale introduced Moore to the sport, and two years later, recommended a new direction. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve taken you as far as I can take you,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Dale told Moore. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153You need to get with the master, Matlock Rose.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153It wasn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t a real cordial relationship at first,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Moore\nof his beginnings with Rose. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153This guy started on me from the way I put a\nblanket on a horse. And all during this time, there was never a lot said\nbetween Matlock and me. But a mutual respect developed and it finally resulted\nin the fact that he became the closest male to me in my life, other than my\nfather and my son.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moore and Rose hauled together in 1977 and 1979, when Rose\nwon the NCHA Open World Championships on Peponita, and Moore was riding Royal\nSantana and Senor Towie. In 1980, when Moore claimed the NCHA Non-Pro World\nChampionship for the second consecutive year, his son, Tom Moore II, also\ncoached by Rose, won the NCHA Youth World Championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153There is no such thing as quit,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Moore, reflecting on\nhis connection with Matlock Rose. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153You\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve got to be fiercely competitive in the\ncutting arena, just like in manufacturing.
