Riding 5-year-old Cats Lightning Rey LTE $95,398, by NRR Cat King Cole, Regan Plendl, Kingsley, Iowa, scored 221 points on Saturday, the final day of the 2018 NCHA Transwest Western Nationals, to win Non-Pro championship. Gianna Pietrafeso, Elbert, Colo., scored 220 aboard Smokin Tap LTE $95,769 for the reserve title, while Dawn Chapman, Chandler, Ariz., placed third with 216 points on Little Jackson Cat LTE $227,264, winner this week of three 2018 Western National titles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So far this year, in addition to the NCHA Western Nationals win, Regan Plendl, the NCHA earner of $269,257, and Cats Lightning Rey have won the Non-Pro Cutting 5\/6 Classic Amateur Unlimited, along with that event\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Amateur Gelding division, and placed fifth in the Breeders Invitational 5\/6 Classic Non-Pro Limited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year, Plendl and her gelding won the Western States LAE Non-Pro Stallion Stakes and Non-Pro Finals, and placed reserve in the Cattlemen’s Derby Non-Pro Limited and third in the Cattlemen’s Derby Non-Pro, as well as reserve in the Southern Futurity 4-Year-Old Non-Pro Limited. Plendl was also reserve champion of the 2019 Breeders Invitational Amateur Unlimited on Queen Of All Cats, by NRR Cat King Cole, and won the Western Nationals $35,000 Non-Pro Finals, as well as the Junior Youth Finals, in 2014, riding Rey Nounce LTE $116,134, by Dual Rey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the second Western Nationals reserve championship for Gianna Pietrafesto and 14-year-old Smokin Tap, by Smokin Trona, who won the $50,000 Amateur Finals last year, and the $35,000 Non-Pro Finals at the Denver Finals in 2017. The pair first placed in the Western Finals as reserve champions of the $2,000 Limited Rider Finals, in 2014. In addition, they placed second in the NCHA $35,000 Non-Pro World Finals in 2015, and finished second in the $35,000 Non-Pro World standings. Gianna Pietrafesto is the NCHA earner of $62,180. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After placing third in the Non-Pro Finals, Dawn Chapman, the NCHA earner of $258,082, and Little Jackson Cat closed out the NCHA Transwest National Western with a 222-point win in the $25,000 Novice Non-Pro Finals<\/a>.
