Hart Photography.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><em>July 28, Fort Worth, Tex.<br \/>\n<\/em>Justin Chalmers showed Reystylin Smooth, bred and owned by Eddie and Barbara Young, San Angelo, Tex., to score 223 points, the high score on the first day of 2018 NCHA\/Metallic Cat Summer Spectacular Derby Open go-round competition. Desiresomemettalic, with Beau Galyean, and Rey Good Lookin, under Chris Johnsrud tied with 221 points, the second-highest score of the day.<\/p>\n<p>Reystylin Smooth LTE $21,768, by Smooth As A Cat, was bred by Eddie and Barbara Young out of Rey N Style LTE $102,608, by Dual Smart Rey. The Youngs sold the then 5-year-old Rey N Style to Rex and Rhenda Tillerson\u2019s Bar RR Ranches, for $89,000 in the 2013 Western Bloodstock NCHA Futurity Sale. Reystylin Smooth is Rey N Style&#8217;s first performer.<\/p>\n<p>Justin Chalmers showed Reystylin Smooth to win the Cattlemen&#8217;s Derby Open Limited and place seventh in the Cattlemen&#8217;s Derby Open. The pair also placed third in the Abilene Spectacular Open Limited and ninth in the Abilene Spectacular Open.<\/p>\n<p>Chalmers, 2006 NCHA Senior Youth Rookie of the Year and NCHA earner of $92,539, won the 2017 NCHA Derby Open Limited and the Abilene Spectacular Open Limited riding HC Herd Boss, also bred and owned by Eddie and Barbara Young.<\/p>\n<p>Desiresomemettalic LTE $73,860, an NCHA Futurity Non-Pro Semi-Finalist under Ashley Galyean, has been an open finalist with Beau Galyean in four 2018 limited age events and a finalist with Ashley in the Abilene Spectacular Non-Pro. Sired by Metallic Cat, Desiresomemettalic is out of Desire Some Freckles LTE $188,990, a leading dam of earners of $1,341,660.<\/p>\n<p>Beau Galyean, NCHA earner of $3,495,296 and member of the NCHA Riders Hall of Fame and the NCHA Non-Pro Hall of Fame, showed Metallic Cat LTE $574,494, the 2009 NCHA Open Horse of the Year, as well as Metallic Rebel LTE $411,837. In 2018, he has earned the reserve championship of the NCHA Super Stakes Open aboard Rollz Royce LTE $112,604, by Dual Smart Rey, who he showed on Saturday to score 217 points in the Derby Open first go-round.<\/p>\n<p>Rey Good Lookin LTE $122,204, by Dual Rey, placed fourth with Chris Johnsrud in the 2017 NCHA Futurity Open Limited Finals and was also an Open Semi-Finalist. In 2018, Rey Good Lookin and Johnsrud have placed third in the NCHA Super Stakes Open and won the Open Gelding division, and placed fourth in the Bonanza Open.<\/p>\n<p>Ken Hanson, Weatherford, Tex., owner of Rey Good Lookin, showed the gelding as a finalist in the 2017 NCHA Futurity Amateur Unlimited and has earned money with him in nine divisions of major 2018 limited age events.<\/p>\n<p><em>The 2018 NCHA\/Metallic Cat Summer Cutting Spectacular continues daily through Aug. 5<sup>th<\/sup>.
