Kade Smith on Hay U.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Kade Smith, 27, of Mineral Wells, Texas, and Hay U marked 225 to win the Non-Pro finals of the Mercuria NCHA World Series of Cutting at the Idaho CHA Futurity Tuesday evening. The win was worth $10,178.<\/p>\n

Carol Ward of Rancho Murieta, California and Spooked By A Cat marked 220 for second place.<\/p>\n

Two year’s ago, Smith’s sister, Ashley Snider, won the Non-Pro Mercuria at the Idaho Futurity riding Sly Chance. Their dad, NCHA Hall of Fame Rider Greg Smith, the breeder of Hay U, has been a five-time Open finalist in Mercuria World Series events.<\/p>\n

Hay U is a 5-year-old mare by Third Cutting out of A Little Reylena, the Dual Rey mare that Kade rode to win the 2008 Limited Non-Pro NCHA Classic Challenge in Fort Worth.<\/p>\n

Most recently, Kade and Hay U were Mercuria finalists at the West Texas Futurity. They placed third in the NCHA Classic Challenge in July. They’ve also been finalists this year at the NCHA Super Stakes Classic, the Mercuria NCHA World Series in San Antonio and at the Abilene Spectacular.<\/p>\n

This show takes Hay U’s earnings over $90,000. Kade, the 2011 NCHA Futurity Non-Pro champion on Lean This Rey, has earned more than $414,000.
