Rios Cat<\/figcaption><\/figure>A score of 92 is an “A” in anyone’s book. That was the percentage (92%) of horses sold during Western Bloodstock’s Summer Select Yearling Sale on August 2, during the two-day NCHA Summer Spectacular Sale in Fort Worth.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153I don’t know if this was a record, but Milt and Ben can’t remember a higher percentage of horses sold,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Jeremy Barwick, new owner of Western Bloodstock, with reference to Milt Bradford and Ben Emison, the sale company’s founders and former owners, who are still a part of the Western Bloodstock team.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Both days of the sale were outstanding,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Barwick added. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153There were so many good horses, and good horses always bring good prices.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d <\/p>\n

The inaugural Summer Select Yearling session saw an average of $21,720 for the top 25 sellers and an average of $11,200 for a total of 76 yearlings.<\/p>\n

Rios Cat, a full brother to NCHA horse of the year Dont Look Twice, earner of $758,195, was the high-selling yearling stallion at $57,000. Consigned by Waco Bend Ranch, the High Brow Cat-sired son sold to Derrick Miller, Basile, LA. The Cat Crept In, a stallion by High Brow Cat out of NCHA world champion mare Ms Mimosa, brought $50,000 from Donna Sue Henry, Karnes City, Tex., for consignor Reata Cutting Horses.<\/p>\n

MK Lollie Pop<\/figcaption><\/figure>Western Bloodstock’s Summer Spectacular Sale on Saturday, August 3 realized an average of $20,060 for the 25 high-selling horses. The top four sellers came from the The MK Cutting Horse Production Sale session: MK Lollie Pop, at $60,000, a 3-year-old mare by High Brow Cat to Tim Griesse, Waco, Tex; MK Katabatic, at $50,000, a 3-year-old mare by High Brow Cat to Catherine Adams, Aubrey, Tex,; MK Rey Girl, at $44,000, a 3-year-old mare by Dual Rey to Bobby Gale, Conway, S.C., for $44,000; and MK Jessie Rey, at $38,000, a yearling colt by Dual Rey to Center Ranch.<\/p>\n

Metallic Jones, sired by Metallic Cat and consigned by Wesley Galyean, was the sale’s high-selling gelding at $30,000. He was purchased by Kelsey Weeks, Cotulla, Tex. Nine-year-old Reeds Instant Magic, by Abrakadabracre and in foal to Kit Kat Sugar, was the high-selling broodmare. She was consigned by Curtis Carbo and sold for $30,000 to Alvin Fults, Amarillo, Tex.<\/p>\n

Overall, 85% of the horses sold from the NCHA Summer Spectacular Sales catalog of 200, not including 12 withdrawals.<\/p>\n
