Kelle Earnheart on Cancan Reyvolution
Kelle Earnheart, at 15, was the youngest rider to ever win an NCHA major event in Fort Worth, when she captured the 2000 NCHA Futurity on Justa Swinging Jane.

Last night, Earnheart added another Derby trophy to her cache with 225 points aboard her gelding Cancan Reyvolution, by Dual Rey.

“I had the draw (midway through the second set) and I had some good cattle picked out,” said Earnheart. “My herd holders, Clint Allen and Sean Flynn told me that we needed to cut black cattle because the colored cattle hadn’t been very good. So I listened to them and it all worked out.

“The cattle stayed in the middle of the pen and they were perfect. And my horse crawled around a little bit and was great.”

Earnheart, who counts the NCHA 2009 Non-Pro Futurity among her wins, noted that 225 points was the highest that she has ever scored in Will Rogers Coliseum.

The Derby Non-Pro record of 225.5 points belongs to the late Bucki James, with Rambo Merada in 2002.

This is the fourth major win non-pro win for Clint Allen-trained Cancan Reyvolution, also third-placed with Earnheart in the NCHA Futurity. Earnheart and the gelding also won at The Bonanza and Tunica, as well as taking Gelding classes at The Bonanza and the NCHA Summer Spectacular.

For Holly Francois, reserve champion with 219 points aboard Dualsadie, by Dual Pep, her finals run replayed in her mind like a dream sequence.

“I remember getting down there and and I was able to find my cows so easily and it seemed like everything just flowed so easily,” she said.

“The only other thing I remember is that Lee (her husband) wasn’t talking to me through the run like he normally does. I was pretty nervous and I think he thought I might lose it.”

The Summer Spectacular was a great show for the Francois family – Lee was a finalist aboard Sofie Rey and Reys Desire in the Classic Challenge, and daughter Sidney was a finalist in the Junior Youth Cutting.

“I had a lot of confidence in my mare and a great support team,” said Holly, who had also been reserve champion of The Non-Pro on Dualsadie, last spring.
