Southern Cutting Futurity: Starstruck Ichi strikes again

Starstruck Ichi, winner of the Music City Futurity in her limited age event debut, claimed her second consecutive championship and $11,763, with a 224-point score in the Southern Cutting Futurity Open, which concluded on October 31 in Jackson, MS. Kitty Merada was reserve with 216 points.

Ridden by Austin Shepard for Scooty Chabert, Cut Off, LA, Starstruck Ichi is from the first performing crop of Cat Ichi. Third-placed Mary Ichi, shown by Guy Woods for EE Ranches, Pilot Point, TX, is also sired by Cat Ichi, who was raised by EE Ranches and also shown by Woods.

Shepard also placed fifth in the Futurity aboard Gymware, bred and owned by Jim and Carolyn Ware, Millsap, TX, and his Shepard’s, Stacy, won the Southern Classic Non-Pro title aboard MH San Tules Dually.

Smart Frosty Cat, by Smooth As A Cat, won the Southern Cutting Derby Open under Sean Flynn for Charles Burger; while Wood I Never, by Zack T Wood, posted his fourth major title and went past $350,000 in official NCHA career earnings, with R.L. Chartier aboard for Wrigley Ranches.
