On Sunday, March 8, riding Highbrow Nadine, by High Brow CD, Colt Moore, Williston, Fla., scored 220 points to claim the 2019 NCHA Eastern Nationals Senior Youth Championship. Evelyn Cox, North Salem, Ind., scored 219.5 points on Cats Miller Time, by High Brow Cat, to earn the reserve championship, while Gavin Callahan, McConnell, S.C., placed third with 217 points showing Reytallic, by Metallic Cat.

Colt Moore, the NCHA earner of $122,743, won last year’s NCHA Eastern Nationals Senior Youth Championship riding Catscratch Sister LTE $154,924, by WR This Cats Smart, who he also showed to place third in the Non-Pro Finals, and as reserve champion of the 2019 NCHA Summer Spectacular Senior Youth Scholarship Cutting. Seven-year-old High Brow Nadine LTE $80,068 is owned by Colt’s brother, Kolby Don, who showed her successfully in Non-Pro limited age competition, as well as at the NCHA Eastern Nationals.

Evelyn Cox, the NCHA earner of $9,549, enjoyed her first NYCHA Finals success in 2017, when she placed third in the NCHA Junior Youth World Finals, as well as tenth in the NYCHA Junior Youth Scholarship Cutting. Cats Miller Time LTE $49,150, Evelyn’s mount this week in Jackson, is owned by Jason Cox. The 11-year-old gelding won the 2014 NCHA Eastern Nationals $2,000 Limited Rider championship with Shae Forby, as well as the 2013 NCHA Derby Amateur Finals with Matthew Dedden.

Gavin Callahan, the NCHA earner of $47,725, won last year’s NCHA Eastern Nationals $35,000 Non-Pro Finals riding Hot Dona LTE $40,627, by Boon Too Suen. He also won the 2018 NYCHA Junior Youth World Finals on Time N Tequila. Reytallic LTE $33,052, who Gavin showed this year in Jackson, is owned by Jeff and Janet Canter, Jonesville, N.C. The 8-year-old gelding was an Open limited age event finalist with Ed Flynn, as well as an Amateur finalist with his breeder, Eddie Young, San Angelo, Tex., and Carson Cantor, Jonesville, N.C.

Charles Cody Gann wins NCHA Eastern Nationals Junior Youth Championship

Cody Gann, Leighton, Ala., scored 222 points on Hevvy Metal, by Metallic Cat, to win the 2019 NCHA Eastern Nationals Junior Youth Championship. Will Bushaw, Weatherford, Tex., aboard Smooth Sailing Cat, by Smooth As A Cat, claimed the reserve title with 216.5 points, while Breanna Collier, Cypress, Tex., placed third with 214.5 points on Creyzy Train, by Auspicious Cat.

The NCHA earner of $12,263, Cody Gann, was also champion of last year’s NCHA Eastern Nationals Junior Youth competition on Hevvy Metal LTE $170,920, owned by Jerry and Patti Gann. Cody also rode Hevvy Metal  as reserve champion of last year’s NCHA Summer Spectacular Junior Youth Scholarship Cutting.

Will Bushaw, the NCHA earner of $88,734 and a successful limited age event Amateur finalist, won last year’s NCHA Summer Spectacular Junior Youth Cutting on Velvets Revolver LTE $277,351, who carried his brother, Charles Russell, in the Amateur finals of numerous limited age events.  Smooth Sailing Cat LTE $131,818, owned by Grace Ann Vangilder, Weatherford, Tex., and Will’s NCHA Eastern Nationals mount, was a Non-Pro and Amateur limited event money earner for Ashley Flynn, in 2017, as well as for Grace Ann Vangilder and her father, Jim Vangilder, in 2018 and 2019.

Breanna Collier, an NCHA earner of $5,383, showed Countacular LTE $71,981, by Im Countin Checks, to place tenth in last year’s NCHA Eastern Nationals Junior Youth finals. She also showed Gin Is So Smooth LTE $23,991, by Smooth As A Cat as an Eastern Nationals Junior Youth finalist. In addition, she showed Smartys Boon LTE $23,397, by Smart Lil Scoot, last year as an NCHA Spectacular Junior Youth Scholarship finalist, as well as an NCHA World Finals Junior Youth finalist.

Eight-year-old Creyzy Train LTE $51862, Breanna’s 2019 NCHA Eastern Nationals mount, owned by Ron Knutson, Spokane, Wash., was a 2017 Non-Pro limited age event finalist with her breeder, Brandon Dufurrena. Creyzy Train, out of Miss Ella Rey LTE $375,842, is a three-quarter sister to Stevie Rey Von LTE $418,947 and Purple Reyn LTE $356,632.

The 2019 NCHA Eastern National Championships continue through Saturday, March 14.
