Westfall also claimed the reserve championship and $37,726 with 218.5 points on Desires One And Only, by One Time Pepto.

Kristen Galyean, the NCHA Non-Pro Hall of Fame earner of $763,734, placed in the finals of the 2016 NCHA Non-Pro Futurity riding Fed Exx LTE $77,620, by Spots Hot, and in 2012 on Dark And Sultry LTE $84,728, by Spots Hot. This year, Galyean showed The Dark Alley LTE $144,173, by Spots Hot, to place third in the NCHA Super Stakes Non-Pro Finals, and Duramax Dually LTE $195,452, by Dual Rey, as reserve champion of the NCHA Super Stakes Non-Pro Classic.

Coureygous is a Dual Rey daughter out of 2005 NCHA Futurity Open winner Highbrow Supercat LTE $364,690, by High Brow Cat. Highbrow Supercat is a leading producer of earners of over $1.3 million, including Coureygous’ full siblings Lil Rattler LTE $338,873, Button Down Supercat LTE $285,048, and Cinca De Maya LTE $106,341.

This will be the second year for 19-year-old Brandon Westfall, the NCHA earner of $487,186, to ride in NCHA Futurity Open competition. His first Futurity check came in 2014, when he qualified for the Non-Pro Semi-Finals on Johnny Royal LTE $61,131, by CD Royal.  In 2017, he was NCHA Futurity Non-Pro reserve champion on Smooth Lil Cowtown LTE $124,460, and in 2018, he showed Ringo LTE $53,803, a full brother in-blood, by Kit Kat Sugar, to I Reckon So, as an Open and Open Limited Futurity finalist, and The Bluez Feather, by the Bluez Man, in the Non-Pro Finals.

Both I Reckon So and Desires One And Only are owned by Brandon’s parents, Russ and Janet Westfall. I Reckon So’s dam, Just As Reckless, is out Trouble Lynn 495, producer of NCHA earners of $747,768, all sired by Westfall-owned stallion CD Royal. Russ also qualified for the 2019 Open Futurity Semi-Finals on homebred Sugarlesss, by Kit Kat Sugar and out of the Trouble Lynn 495 daughter Lil Bit Reckless.

Brandon showed Desires One And Only to qualify for the Open Semi-Finals with 440 points, the second-highest cumulative score. Bred by Rockin 5 Ranch, Desires One And Only is a half-brother, out of $1.5 million producer Desire Some Freckles, to Thundercat LTE $302,762 and to 2007 NCHA Futurity Open reserve champion Desires Little Rex LTE $287,519.
