Ricky N Reyd Streaks claimed his second consecutive AQHA World Show Amateur championship on Tuesday. Shown by Rieta Dufurrena, Gainesville, Tex., Ricky N Reyd Streaks won the 2018 championship under Rieta’s brother, Brandon. Rieta also won the AQHA World Show Amateur championship in 2014 riding Miss Ella Rey LTE $375,842, the dam of Mizpah Cat, who Rieta also showed in Tuesday’s Finals to place third.
Ricky N Reyd Streaks and Smooth De Mayo, owned and shown by Don Perkins, Flint, Tex., tied with 222 points in the Finals, and Ricky N Reyd Streaks won the workoff.
Owned by Rieta and Brandon’s mother, Shona Dufurrena, 6-year-old gelding Ricky N Reyd Streaks LTE $81,227, by Dual Rey, has carried each of the Dufurrena family members for cutting wins, including father Ed Dufurrena, an NCHA Riders Hall of Fame earner of $1,596,134. Ed Dufurena also showed the gelding to place third in the World Open Cutting Finals on Sunday, and Mizpah Cat to place second in the Junior Level 3 Finals.
Smooth De Mayo, an 8-year-old daughter of Smooth As A Cat, carried Don Perkins to place third in both the Amateur and Amateur Unlimited divisions of the 2015 NCHA Derby, as well as to place third in Tuesday’s World Show Level 2 Amateur Finals.
Perkins, the NCHA earner of $111,839, was reserve champion of the 2010 AQHA World Show Amateur showing Suns Highball, by Mr Sun O Lena, the stallion Perkins showed to win the 1997 NCHA Super Stakes Amateur Classic.

Show Biz Kit Kat LTE $75,043, shown by Susan Hanselman, Piedmont, Okla., scored 217.5 points to claim reserve. The 8-year-old daughter of Mr Peppys Freckles is out of Show Biz Kitty, whose three other money earners are Once In A Blue Boon $268,398, Rollz Royce LTE $251,607, and SS Blacks Lil Kitty LTE $186,148.
