On Wednesday, June 27, at the NCHA Western Nationals in Denver, David Whitaker, Kaysville, Utah, scored 218 points aboard Cartier Time, to win the go-round of $35,000 Non-Pro division. Dannica Percevich, Belle Fourche, S.D., and Wild Haired Lilly, placed second with 216.5 points in the 73-rider go-round, where a 213.5-point score advanced 30 entries to Thursday’s finals.

Whitaker and 11-year-old Cartier Time, by One Time Pepto, placed (7th) in last year’s NCHA Denver Nationals $35,000 Non-Pro division, where Lawson Hadlock showed the gelding as a finalist (5th) in the $25,000 Novice. Earlier this week, Hadlock and Cartier Time placed (8th) in the Open finals.

In February, Whitaker showed Cartier Time to place (4th) in the $100,000 amateur division of the World Series of Cutting Mane Event in Las Vegas. Whitaker is the NCHA earner of $55,600; Cartier Time has $57,242 in lifetime earnings.

Dannica Percevich, the NCHA earner of $31,204, won last year’s NCHA Denver Nationals $50,000 Amateur championship and was reserve champion in the $15,000 Amateur aboard Imasmoothlittlecat, by Smooth As A Cat.

Earlier this week, Todd Adolf showed 9-year-old Wild Haired Lilly, by Wild Haired Cat, as a finalist in the $25,000 Novice division. Wild Haired Lilly is the NCHA earner of $49,564.
